The Business Manager role (NZ) is an emerging leadership role responsible for the performance and development of Between 10-15 bp stores. This is a region-based role based, which holds direct responsibility for the safety, Customer, people, compliance, commercial performance, and brand performance within their allocated region (10-15 locations).

Business Managers are enthusiastic, performance focused leaders that understand success is delivered through embedding a safety, team first culture. With a can-do attitude, willingness to challenge the status quo, and tenacity to succeed, our Business Managers are required adapt to environments where priorities can change rapidly.

Leadership

  • Provide engaging and authentic leadership of region, including coaching and developing partners, store managers and their teams

  • Build and foster a collaborative environment that promotes open communication and for COCO sites, handles all people-related tasks, including engagement, development, and performance management

  • Develop purposeful connections and shared ambitions with support office teams to ensure focus on the overall objectives

  • Review, act on and continually improve bp engagement results by contributing to and delivering on the aligned people plan for COCO sites

  • Utilise the bp tools for reward and recognition to drive a purpose and performance built culture within your cluster, including collaboration with the wider organisation through social channels

  • Manage the onboarding and embedding of new partners for COFO sites

  • Manage performance framework of partners to protect bp’s interests, while uplifting and empowering partners

  • Manage end to end recruitment for COCO sites only safety

  • Drive the ability and courage to speak up by fostering a psychologically safe environment

  • Empower the region to achieve zero harm through curious and collaborative workings and continuous improvement

  • Leverage bp’s Safety Leadership Principles and My Safety Commitments to ensure execution of bp processes, procedures, and innovative programs

  • Improve key safety lagging indicators through enhancing the safety culture at store, and role modelling these behaviours

  • Evaluate your regions risk and safety culture through regular safety audits Sales

  • Execute the retail strategy & agreed customer offer in partnership with support teams and COFO partners

  • Achieve the annual / monthly plans for sales; identify, implement & share growth opportunities

  • Support the delivery of fuel volumes versus plan by working in collaboration with retail pricing

  • Own & optimise region performance by driving aligned KPI’s, measured by scorecard

  • Complete store level performance meetings with all stores and partners that inspire and drive continuous Improvements

  • Lead and develop a fun and friendly culture in your region to deliver exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence, and identify growth opportunities

  • Support and deliver projects within the region, such as partnership rollouts and innovation

  • Meet and exceed all service metrics as outlined on scorecard savings

  • Deliver profitability plan by managing the region to an agreed set of KPI’s, measured by scorecard.

  • Look beyond the plan and continue to enhance financial performance by delivering better than plan, and better than yesterday

  • Improve performance culture by managing cost risk through completion of risk audits, store checklists and ad hoc task

  • Preferred Qualifications: Business, Customer Experience, Marketing, or relevant retail/customer-facing roles (desirable but not essential)

  • Proven Leadership: Demonstrated history of leading with purpose, care, and authenticity

  • Retail Operations Experience: Broad experience across retail operations, including diverse industry

  • Digital Savvy: Experience in digitally advanced, commercially oriented, and future-focused organizations

  • Food and Coffee Knowledge: Awareness of working with food and coffee is an advantage

  • Flexibility to support a business that runs 24/7 operations including participation in on call arrangements as

  • Senior leaders including Retail Market Manager, Convenience & Trading Manager, and other senior function leads

  • Retail support functions including safety, space, marketing and category teams

  • External bodies including local councils and government
