Job description

Purina Market Manager – Southeast Region

This position is remote (virtual) and can work from home but must be located within the Southeast Region which is Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.

Travel for this role will be roughly 80%.

We’re looking for a highly motivated, field-based Market Manager to support the growth of the Purina Feed brand across Farm & Ranch retail partners in the South-Central Region.

This role is focused on in-store execution, product support, and building strong relationships at the store level. You will spend the majority of your time in-market working directly with store teams to improve product placement, increase visibility, and drive sales. The Market Manager independently manages day-to-day market execution decisions within an assigned territory, using store-level insights, sales trends, and business priorities to determine where to focus time, resources, and partner engagement.

This is a high-travel role that requires regular overnight stays and a strong ability to work independently in the field.

Sales area includes Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. Candidates must be located within the sales area.

Drive In-Store Execution

  • Visit retail stores regularly to support merchandising, product placement to elevate overall brand presence

  • Ensure products are set according to planograms and company standards and make real-time recommendations to improve product placement, shelf presence and promotional execution in alignment with brand and retail standards

  • Identify opportunities to improve shelf space, visibility, and performance

Drive Engagement and Influence Store Teams

  • Drive engagement with store associates and leaders around products and selling approach

  • Determine store-level execution priorities based on sales performance, merchandising gaps, product availability, and growth opportunities.

  • Build relationships that increase product knowledge and confidence at the store level

Partner with Retail Leadership

  • Serve as the primary field contact for assigned stores, independently assessing needs and recommending actions to Retail Operations Managers and retail leaders

  • Coordinate with Retail Operations Manager (ROMs) to support new store openings, product launches, and ongoing training needs

  • Identify execution barriers, determine appropriate next steps, and escalate issues or opportunities that require cross-functional support.

  • Support the introduction and expansion of new products in stores and provide recommendations where gaps might exist.

Support Retail Growth and Expansion

  • Support an expanding retail footprint, including new store locations and increased store coverage needs

  • Prioritize store coverage and field support across the assigned market based on business opportunity, store performance, new product activity, and retail partner needs.

Collaborate and Support Field Initiatives

  • Partner with internal teams across sales, marketing, and retail operations to ensure consistent execution in-store

  • Assist with regional events, promotions, and store resets

  • Participate in retailer meetings and calls as needed

What You’ll Bring

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience

  • 1+ year of experience in retail, sales, or store-level training (CPG or similar industry preferred)

  • Ability to use sales data, store observations, and partner feedback to make sound territory-level decisions and recommendations.

  • Experience working directly with retail stores or field-based environments is preferred

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 80% travel

  • Expect 3 to 4 overnight stays most weeks

Skills and Capabilities

  • Strong ability to work independently and manage a field-based territory

  • Effective communicator, comfortable training and presenting to groups

  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships at the store level

  • Basic analytical skills with the ability to use sales data to inform decisions

  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, customer-facing role

  • Ability to record store visits in salesforce, creating a communication loop

Preferred Background

  • Experience in agriculture, livestock, or feed industry

  • Familiarity with Farm & Ranch or similar retail environments

  • Understanding of retail merchandising and store resets

  • Experience with basic digital tools for communication or training

  • Field Sales Rep

The salary range for this role is $70,800 - $106,200. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
