Fisheries Biologist IV Whitehorse, YT; Vancouver, BC; Saskatoon, SK; Calgary, AB; Remote | Regular Full-Time   As a Biologist IV you will be responsible for serving as a lead on technical components of fisheries and aquatic resources projects and contributing subject matter expertise. You may also supervise the day-to-day work of junior team members and field crews.
About the Role
  • Serve as a lead on the delivery of fisheries and aquatic resources services for clients, providing technical direction from project planning and field mobilization through analysis, reporting, and closeout.
  • Analyzes and interprets environmental data, including application-relevant statistical analysis.
  • Conducts summary reporting and technical reporting for internal and external (e.g. regulatory applications) requirements and supports the development of environmental assessment and regulatory applications.
  • Lead QA/QC and senior technical reviews to ensure work products meet standards.
  • Provide guidance to clients on fisheries and aquatic resource risks, regulatory requirements, permitting pathways, mitigation, monitoring, and adaptive management.
  • Collects environmental data, including the sampling of various media (fish, benthic invertebrates, periphyton, surface water, etc.), including maintaining custody of environmental samples and installing and/or maintaining monitoring instrumentation.
  • Oversee remote field programs and provide direction to field crews, including planning, logistics, sample custody, equipment readiness, data quality, and safe work practices.
  • Work collaboratively with technical teams and proactively identify opportunities to improve project environmental design aspects and streamline regulatory processes.
  • Keep abreast of existing and pending legislation and regulation changes that may impact Ensero projects or our client’s projects. Coordinate and disseminate regulatory information within the company.
  • Contributes to business development through proposal support, identification of client needs and project estimating
  • Provide technical input to projects within your area(s) of expertise
  • Interface with other technical experts to achieve multidisciplinary project goals
  • Mentor and provide technical training to junior team members
  • Lead training efforts and onboarding for new team members
  • All other duties as required

About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, aquatic sciences, environmental science or a relevant discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in mining or environmental consulting with demonstrated success in aquatic-related services.
  • R.P. Bio or eligibility for R.P. Bio considered an asset.
  • CABIN certification considered an asset.
  • Experience with MDMER (EEM programs), and Fisheries Act Authorizations considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members as well as lead independent projects
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other business software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels
