Clarity on the Role:

Wellvana is looking for a?Medical Economics?Analyst who?will play a crucial role in developing and?maintaining?our organization's data?enrichments?and analytic solutions?in support of our value-based care performance management?strategies and corresponding medical cost?driver analyses across our ACO partner network. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather business requirements, assess past performance, and identify future opportunities—building analytic data models, leveraging AI, and creating interactive dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to drive business growth and decision-making. This person will also be responsible for supporting current and new initiatives, bringing their analytical creativity to a growing space within Wellvana. 

A successful candidate has strong experience building healthcare metrics, efficiently querying claims and membership data in a cloud data warehouse, and warehouse and translating complex value-based care methodology into clear, defensible analysis. You will act as a subject matter expert – applying medical economics best practices to cost, utilization, and quality analysis across MSSP, Medicare Advantage, and other risk-based arrangements. In this role, you'll influence how Wellvana and its partners understand financial and clinical performance, ensure that analytic solutions are aligned with the company's business needs, and bring data to life to impact positive healthcare outcomes.

What's Expected:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data?enrichments?and?analytic?reporting solutions.? 
• Design, develop, and?maintain?scalable and efficient analytic?solutions.? 
• Execute?and?maintain?our?Med Econ?data solutions, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accuracy.? 
• Analyze claims, membership, and quality data to identify cost, utilization, and quality trends across ACO partner populations, surfacing findings that drive partner action. Work with clinical leadership to identify and size new enterprise clinical initiatives. 
• Deeply understanding of membership and claims data sources with the ability to build and maintain reusable analyses (PMPM trend, ED/IP utilization, ACSC/avoidable admissions, care gaps, episodes), and account for imperfections in the underlying data. 
• Build and deliver internally facing analytic packages and executive reporting that translate analytic findings into clear, actionable narratives. 
• Query and validate data within Snowflake to ensure analyses are accurate, consistent, and methodologically sound. Implement quality checks and troubleshoot discrepancies, quickly resolve issues, and document assumptions. 
• Collect and integrate feedback from clinical, network, and finance teams to continuously improve analytic methodology, reporting, and processes. 
• Leverage AI tools to facilitate analytic package development and output summaries. 
• Partner with key stakeholders to ensure underlying reporting tables and dashboards support accurate, timely analysis.  
• Transfer analytic and methodological knowledge to internal teams and contribute to supporting documentation (methodology guides, definitions, training materials, SOPs) to enable process automation and consistent knowledge sharing. 
• Develop clean, reusable, and testable analytical code and make use of existing data team libraries and modules.? 
• Manage multiple tasks, adapt to change, and meet project deadlines in a dynamic environment.?

Education:

•  Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. 

Years of Related Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in medical economics, healthcare analytics, or population health analytics within a payer, ACO, value-based care organization, or similar company. 

Skills/Competencies/Behaviors:

• Advanced SQL skills required, with the ability to independently query and analyze large claims datasets; working knowledge of Python for analysis or automation is a plus. 
• Experience building reporting deliverables (decks, dashboards, etc.) for internal stakeholders and executives that translate complex analysis into clear recommendations. 
• Proficiency in creating data visualizations using reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar. 
• Experience managing multiple concurrent deliverables while meeting project deadlines. 
• Strong, collaborative, team-oriented style. 
• Ability to clearly present findings to internal and external teams with varying levels of technical and clinical fluency. 
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 
• Experience using agentic AI tools such as Claude, Snowflake Cortex, etc.
• Prior experience with a payer, ACO, or similar value-based care organization, and has hands-on experience in value-based care analytics and claims groupers (e.g., Symmetry ETG/ERG, or similar episode groupers) preferred
