Principal System Analyst

The Workplace Investing (WI) Platform technology group within Fidelity Investments is tasked to develop and maintain technology solutions supporting Fidelity's Defined Contribution (DC) business. The ADE Desktop platform serves Backoffice and Operational associates with accessing and managing adjustments of Recordkeeping data for Participants, Plans and Clients 

The Role 

The Principal Systems Analyst will be the main liaison between our business, product, and development teams. You will take business requirements and turn them into workable tasks. You will be part of a highly collaborative, multi-functional, and geographically distributed scrum team. You will be responsible for providing leadership on complex systems analysis for projects as well as playing an influential role with our business partners to develop recommendations that address critical business needs and opportunities. You will have responsibility for release management coordination and participate in scaling ceremonies and activities as you manage interdependencies across squads. You will examine and drive team performance through metrics and find opportunities for the squad to fully realize the benefits of working in an agile structure. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you will evolve and sustain an innovative agile culture. 

The Expertise and Skills You Bring  

  • 10+ years of experience in systems analysis focused on building software solutions for technology initiatives.  

  • Deep knowledge of Agile development methodologies and scrum tools – Jira, Jira Align experience desired. 

  • Experience in developing and authoring solution requirements and specifications for moderate to complex software systems  

  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) and API (Application Programming Interface) consumer tools such as Postman.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology subject area  

  • Ability to mentor and coach junior analysts across divergent functions, experiences, and geographies  

  • Ability to influence behavior without having an organizational hierarchy.  

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and adaptive to organizational changes  

  • Ability to brainstorm with teams on solutions to address challenges and roadblocks.  

  • Effective communication and people-interaction skills  

  • Efficiency in written and verbal communications and dedication to tailoring content to the appropriate audience (business vs. technology, associate vs. management, etc.)  

  • Ability to rapidly assimilate business processes, goals and objectives and distill them into well-defined User-Stories/requirements.  

  • Flexibility to adjust your work schedule to accommodate both U.S. and India-based teams and associates.  

  • Knowledge of technical solutions and back-end systems  

The Team  

This team is looking for Principal Systems Analyst at its Smithfield, Rhode Island site to be part of its multidimensional, globally distributed team of IT professionals responsible for the development and maintenance of Fidelity’s WI plan administration platform. The ideal candidate should show ease at making personal connections, be confident in leading and constructively challenging with a dedicated approach to solving problems and overcoming obstacles. You will partner with other members on the squad to accelerate value delivery, by acting as a change agent, role model, and teacher. You will assist with requirement gathering and story writing and may participate in a wider Scrum of Scrums to help influence standard methodologies at a tribe level.
