We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced CAD Data Generation & Validation Specialists with strong expertise in FreeCAD, Python, parametric modelling, mechanical design, CAD validation, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation to contribute to an advanced AI training and engineering-data project.
Selected professionals will create, edit, validate, and document high-quality parametric CAD models used in AI training datasets, with a strong focus on geometric accuracy, engineering best practices, reproducibility, and manufacturing relevance. The work combines CAD generation, quality assurance, technical documentation, and optional Python-based automation.
Key Responsibilities
Parametric CAD Model Generation

Create precise parametric CAD models using FreeCAD

Develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and reusable geometric features

Apply robust modelling practices that preserve design intent

Maintain geometric accuracy across complex model structures

Build diverse CAD assets suitable for dataset development and AI training
CAD Validation & Quality Assurance

Review CAD models for dimensional, geometric, and structural accuracy

Identify discrepancies, modelling errors, or incomplete design information

Validate models against engineering requirements and best practices

Correct issues while preserving intended functionality and parametric behaviour

Maintain consistent quality standards across large collections of CAD data
GD&T & Engineering Standards

Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing principles to mechanical models

Ensure CAD outputs reflect real-world manufacturing standards

Review dimensional relationships, tolerances, and geometric controls

Identify design elements that may conflict with manufacturing or inspection requirements

Apply engineering judgement to maintain realistic and production-relevant model data
Mechanical & Manufacturing Design

Apply mechanical-design principles when developing and reviewing components

Consider common manufacturing methods when evaluating geometry and tolerances

Incorporate industrial-engineering and manufacturability considerations where relevant

Ensure models are representative of realistic engineering applications

Support creation of technically diverse datasets spanning multiple mechanical-design scenarios
Python & CAD Automation

Optionally use Python to automate repetitive CAD modelling or validation tasks

Enhance model parametrisation through scripting where appropriate

Develop reproducible workflows that improve modelling efficiency

Support scalable dataset generation through technical automation

Apply scripting to increase variation, consistency, and richness across CAD assets
Technical Documentation & Reproducibility

Document modelling workflows, assumptions, and design decisions clearly

Maintain detailed engineering documentation for validation and dataset traceability

Record revisions and quality-assurance findings consistently

Ensure modelling processes can be reproduced by other technical contributors

Communicate complex engineering information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ideal Profile

2+ years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modelling, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a closely related field

Strong hands-on experience with FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD software
-
Demonstrated expertise in parametric modelling and mechanical design

Strong understanding of engineering best practices

Experience with CAD validation and quality-assurance workflows
-
Practical knowledge of GD&T and its application to real-world manufacturing scenarios

Familiarity with industrial-engineering principles and common manufacturing processes

Experience preparing detailed engineering documentation

Strong attention to detail and commitment to geometric accuracy

Ability to incorporate feedback and revisions efficiently

Python scripting experience is advantageous, particularly for CAD automation or parametrisation
