Firmware Test Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Firmware Test Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a Firmware Test Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow

You will become part of a cross-functional development team working with innovative technologies and contributing to the creation of a world-changing product. You will join a US-based startup focused on developing advanced brain-computer interface (BCI) technology to help people with severe disabilities. The company operates at the intersection of neuroscience and engineering, building cutting-edge solutions aimed at significantly improving quality of life.
Responsibilities:

• Understand product requirements, design inputs, and system architectural needs, and translate them into firmware test needs
• Design and develop unit tests, integration tests, and system-level tests for a cutting-edge medical device
• Develop automated test scripts in Python for firmware and hardware validation
• Collaborate with electrical, hardware, and software engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage
• Create documents describing test architectures and methodologies

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Python
• Experience with Python-based automated test frameworks for embedded firmware
• Experience with HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) test setups and automation
• Experience with CI/CD processes for automation and version releases
• Experience with Linux-based testing rigs
• Proficiency with Git for software version control
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
• Strong debugging skills across hardware, firmware, and software layers
• Deep understanding of medical device development processes, including V&V, design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance
• Experience with the design and implementation of test plans for verification and validation in compliance with FDA development standards

Desirable:

• Familiarity with I2C, SPI, UART, and other communication protocols
• Ability to understand PCB schematics
• Experience with IoT devices
