Job description

Build the Cloud Infrastructure Behind a Major Enterprise Transformation

Are you a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges at enterprise scale?

We're looking for a hands-on architect to join a major AWS cloud transformation program for a large U.S.-based enterprise in the energy sector.

This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact migration involving business-critical enterprise applications, multiple AWS environments, complex networking, Oracle databases, and Infrastructure as Code at scale.

You'll work closely with AWS Professional Services engineers, client architects, security teams, database specialists, and application engineers, helping design and build the AWS infrastructure that will support the next generation of the client's technology environment.

A major component of the program is the migration and modernization of ION/Openlink Endur and SQMD, including Terraform-based provisioning of approximately 94 virtual machines across seven Endur environments.

This is not an architecture role where you simply produce diagrams and hand off the implementation.

You'll be expected to design, build, troubleshoot, and take ownership of the infrastructure through implementation and production readiness.

What You'll Be Working On

You'll play a key role in designing and delivering the AWS infrastructure required to support the client's Endur and SQMD environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

AWS Architecture & Infrastructure as Code
  • Design and implement enterprise-grade AWS infrastructure for Endur, SQMD, databases, and supporting applications.
  • Provision approximately 94 EC2 instances across seven Endur environments using Terraform.
  • Develop reusable and maintainable Terraform modules and infrastructure patterns.
  • Establish effective Terraform state, variables, providers, dependencies, and environment management.
  • Build infrastructure that can be consistently deployed across development, testing, staging, disaster recovery, and production environments.
  • Support provisioning of the target infrastructure for SQMD.
  • Integrate infrastructure provisioning with CI/CD and enterprise deployment processes.
Networking & Connectivity

Design and implement the AWS networking required for complex enterprise workloads, including:

  • VPC and subnet architecture
  • Routing and connectivity
  • Security groups and network access controls
  • DNS and Route 53
  • Load balancing
  • Hybrid connectivity between AWS and existing enterprise environments
  • Network segmentation and security controls

You'll work directly with client network and security teams to resolve connectivity dependencies and ensure the AWS environment meets enterprise standards.

Security & Platform Architecture
  • Implement infrastructure aligned with AWS and enterprise security standards.
  • Support IAM, encryption, secrets, certificates, and infrastructure-level security controls.
  • Partner with security teams on governance and compliance requirements.
  • Identify infrastructure dependencies, risks, and design gaps early.
  • Ensure environments are designed with security, resiliency, and operational readiness in mind.
Oracle & Data Guard Infrastructure

Work closely with Oracle DBAs and AWS specialists to support the infrastructure requirements for Oracle Data Guard, including:

  • Primary and standby database environments
  • Replication connectivity
  • Disaster recovery requirements
  • Failover considerations
  • Network latency and availability
  • Security and resiliency requirements

You do not need to be an Oracle DBA, but you should understand how database architecture and replication requirements influence cloud infrastructure design.

Migration & Production Readiness

You'll be involved throughout the migration lifecycle—not just the initial architecture phase.

This includes:

  • Migration planning and environment sequencing
  • Infrastructure readiness and validation
  • Technical workshops and architecture reviews
  • Migration rehearsals
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure and connectivity issues
  • Cutover and rollback planning
  • Production readiness
  • Post-migration stabilization

You'll be expected to own infrastructure issues through resolution and work collaboratively with application, database, security, and network teams.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong AWS architecture experience with hands-on infrastructure engineering ability.

Required Experience
  • 8+ years in cloud infrastructure, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud architecture.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing enterprise workloads on AWS.
  • Advanced/expert-level Terraform experience, including:
    • Modules
    • State management
    • Providers
    • Variables and environment management
    • Dependencies
    • Reusable infrastructure patterns
    • CI/CD-based Terraform deployments
  • Strong experience with core AWS infrastructure services, including:
    • EC2
    • VPC
    • IAM
    • Security Groups
    • Route 53
    • Load Balancing
    • CloudWatch
    • KMS
    • Systems Manager
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, routing, DNS, security segmentation, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience building and supporting multi-environment enterprise platforms.
  • Experience with Oracle infrastructure and an understanding of Oracle Data Guard and replication requirements.
  • Experience participating in large-scale application migrations or data center-to-AWS transformation programs.
  • Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, resiliency, and production infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure, networking, security, operating systems, and applications.

Endur Experience

Experience with ION/Openlink Endur is strongly preferred.

If you haven't worked directly with Endur, we're open to candidates who have supported other complex, stateful, mission-critical enterprise platforms involving multiple application tiers, databases, integrations, and environments.

Experience in energy, utilities, commodities, trading, or similarly complex enterprise environments is also valuable.

This Is a Customer-Facing Architecture Role

You'll work directly with U.S.-based client teams and alongside AWS Professional Services engineering resources.

Because of that, strong English communication is essential.

We're looking for someone who can:

  • Communicate confidently and clearly in English (C1 or equivalent business fluency preferred).
  • Lead and participate in technical architecture discussions.
  • Explain complex infrastructure concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present architecture decisions using diagrams and documentation.
  • Discuss technical trade-offs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate effectively across client, AWS, and delivery teams.
  • Work independently and proactively without requiring constant direction.
  • Take ownership of technical issues from discovery through resolution.

You should be comfortable working in a video-first, remote environment and participating in regular architecture workshops and technical meetings with U.S.-based teams.

Nice to Have

  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional or comparable certification.
  • Experience working directly with AWS Professional Services or AWS Partner engineering teams.
  • ION/Openlink Endur infrastructure experience.
  • Oracle / Data Guard migration experience.
  • Experience supporting Windows-based enterprise workloads on AWS.
  • Experience designing infrastructure CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience working in enterprise security, governance, and compliance environments.
  • Background in energy, utilities, commodities, trading, or financial services.

Why This Project?

This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale, business-critical cloud transformation where your infrastructure decisions will have a direct impact on the success of the migration.

You'll gain exposure to:

AWS at enterprise scale
Work with complex cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads.

Infrastructure as Code
Design and build reusable Terraform infrastructure rather than relying on manual provisioning.

Architecture + Engineering
Own both the architectural decisions and the hands-on implementation.

AWS Professional Services
Collaborate directly with experienced AWS engineering teams and enterprise architects.

Complex Enterprise Systems
Work across AWS, Endur, Oracle, networking, security, disaster recovery, and application infrastructure.

Real Business Impact
Help move critical enterprise workloads from legacy infrastructure into a modern AWS environment.

What Success Looks Like

You'll be successful in this role when the client has a secure, resilient, repeatable, and automated AWS infrastructure platform that is ready to support the migration of Endur and SQMD workloads into production.

That means:

  • Infrastructure is provisioned consistently through Terraform.
  • AWS environments meet security and networking requirements.
  • Connectivity and dependencies are clearly understood and validated.
  • Disaster recovery and resiliency requirements are addressed.
  • Infrastructure issues are resolved proactively.
  • Migration environments are production-ready.
  • Technical decisions are clearly documented and communicated.
  • The client and AWS engineering teams can confidently move workloads forward.

Most importantly, you'll bring the ability to think like an architect while working like an engineer.

Location & Working Model

Remote – Latin America

You'll work with U.S.-based client and engineering teams, so significant overlap with U.S. working hours is required.

The role is full-time and part of a long-term enterprise cloud transformation program.
