Job description

About IRIS

IRIS Software Group is one of the UK's largest privately held software companies, trusted by 100,000+ businesses, schools and accountancy firms to keep their operations running. Our software pays 1 in 6 UK employees, supports over 12,000 schools, and is relied on by 91 of the top 100 UK accountancy firms.

We're a Great Place to Work® certified employer, recognised for our commitment to well-being, inclusion and development - and we're growing fast.

Location: Fully Remote (UK Based)

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Are you an experienced payroll professional looking to join a growing team supporting clients across the UK and internationally?

We're looking for an International Payroll Advisor to take ownership of payroll operations for a portfolio of clients, ensuring payroll services are delivered accurately, compliantly, and on time. Whether your experience is primarily within UK payroll or you've supported international payroll operations, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a collaborative and customer-focused environment.

About the Role

As an International Payroll Advisor, you'll act as the key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, overseeing payroll operations and ensuring payroll delivery runs smoothly across multiple countries and providers.

Rather than processing payroll directly, you'll work closely with payroll teams, delivery partners, and clients to coordinate payroll activities, resolve issues, provide expert guidance, and ensure services are delivered to the highest standards. You'll play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships, driving operational excellence, and supporting the continued growth of our international payroll offering.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of payroll clients, building trusted and long-lasting relationships.

  • Coordinate payroll operations across multiple countries, ensuring all activities are progressing smoothly and in line with agreed timelines.

  • Work closely with payroll processing teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery.

  • Investigate, manage, and resolve payroll queries, escalations, and service issues, providing expert advice and guidance.

  • Monitor payroll performance, identifying risks or potential issues before they impact service delivery.

  • Support clients with payroll-related questions, legislative updates, and operational best practices.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external providers to deliver an exceptional client experience.

  • Maintain accurate records and complete KPI and SLA reporting in a timely manner.

  • Assist with payroll audits and provide supporting documentation where required.

  • Stay up to date with legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring payroll operations remain compliant.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and support the continued growth of the payroll function.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working in a payroll position with responsibility for payroll operations, payroll administration, payroll advisory, or client-facing payroll services.

  • Strong understanding of UK payroll processes, legislation, and compliance requirements.

  • International or multi-country payroll experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high levels of accuracy.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • A high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • CIPP qualification or working towards one.

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

  • Experience supporting international payroll operations or global client portfolios.

  • Additional language skills such as French, Dutch, or Spanish.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Impact: Your work will influence millions globally.

  • Growth: Continuous learning and career development opportunities.

  • Belonging: A culture that celebrates diversity and empowers every individual.
