Position Summary

Critical Materials Group (CMG) is rebuilding the United States' domestic explosives manufacturing capacity from the ground up. CMG is seeking a Director to build and lead sales of CMG's bulk energetic products — RDX, HMX, and related formulations — and the full suite of Rocky Mountain Scientific Labs (RMSL) products and services, across government, commercial, and international customers alike. This includes bulk explosives sales to the U.S. Government, as well as a particular focus on the oil and gas market, domestic and international. This role is as much about building the infrastructure of a real sales function — a defined product catalog, a working pricing database, and a codified sales pipeline process — as it is about selling directly, with the expectation to build and lead a team as the function grows.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Markets & Product Ownership

  • Own CMG's go-to-market in the oil and gas market, both domestic and international.

  • Sell CMG's full suite of Rocky Mountain Scientific Labs (RMSL) products and services to any qualified customer, government or commercial.

  • Develop and lead bulk sales of RDX, HMX, and related formulations to U.S. Government customers, alongside defense commercial and international markets.

  • Build and maintain CMG's product offering and catalog — a real, structured catalog of what CMG sells, not a conceptual one.

Sales Operations & Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain a pricing database covering CMG's full product and service offerings, government and commercial alike.

  • Own sales pipeline management and codify a repeatable sales process that can scale with CMG.

Sales Execution

  • Develop and close international sales opportunities, subject to applicable export control requirements (ITAR/DDTC).

  • Develop and close domestic commercial sales opportunities.

  • Develop and close bulk RDX/HMX/formulation sales opportunities with U.S. Government customers.

Marketing & Visibility

  • Represent CMG at relevant industry conferences and events.

  • Support CMG's broader marketing efforts, including materials and messaging relevant to commercial customers.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in commercial or industrial sales, ideally within oil and gas.

  • Track record of building sales operations infrastructure — pipeline process, pricing tools, product documentation — rather than only working within an existing system.

  • Comfort owning both strategic sales relationships and the operational work of building a commercial function from scratch.

  • Ability to manage a varied portfolio of domestic and international commercial relationships.

Preferred

  • Existing relationships within the oil and gas industry.

  • Familiarity with U.S. export control regulations (ITAR/DDTC) as applied to international commercial sales.

  • Experience commercializing scientific, technical, or lab-based products and services.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Remote position with variable travel for domestic and international customer and partner engagement, conferences, and events.

Compensation & Growth

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.

  • Equity incentive options — this is a foundational hire as CMG builds out a full sales function spanning government, commercial, and international channels.

  • Health insurance and additional benefits.

  • Direct reporting relationship to CMG's Head of Growth, with significant ownership of CMG's bulk product and RMSL sales strategy.

  • Real potential to build and lead a team as the sales function grows.

  • Clearance: Not required for this role; however, must possess the ability to be granted a Secret clearance if required.
