Role Summary The postholder will direct a team of professionals responsible for the supervision and regulation of licensed institutions under several key legislative acts, including the Banks and Deposit Companies Act 1999, Investment Business Act 2003, Fund Administration Provider Business Act 2019, Trusts (Regulation of Trust Business) Act 2001, Money Services Business Act 2016, Corporate Service Provider Business Act 2012, and Credit Union Act 2010.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of professionals in on-site and off-site supervisory activities for licensed institutions and groups.

  • Conduct risk-based analyses of licensed entities and groups to establish annual supervisory plans and applicable minimum regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor remediation progress by licensed institutions to resolve issues identified during supervisory activities.

  • Contribute to the development of regulatory policy for the broader financial services industry.

  • Apply appropriate risk-based models to allocate supervisory resources efficiently.

  • Ensure the supervisory team achieves agreed objectives regarding regulated entities.

  • Prioritize staff management, assessment, performance development, and training.

  • Liaise with domestic industry bodies and international supervisory/regulatory authorities.

  • Represent the organization on various committees and at external industry seminars and conferences.

  • Execute related duties and special projects assigned by management consistent with the role's scope.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education & Credentials:

    • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional qualification); OR

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related discipline paired with a relevant professional designation (e.g., CA, CPA, CFA, FRM, ACIS, FCI, or TEP).

  • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of postgraduate experience, including at least three (3) years at a senior level within a financial services regulator or within the banking, investment, and trust sectors.

  • Core Skills:

    • Solid grasp of financial analysis techniques, risk management frameworks, and corporate governance standards.

    • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legal statutes, regulations, and industry guidelines.

    • Proven leadership, people management, mentoring, and supervisory abilities.

    • High level of confidence conducting and leading discussions with senior management.

    • Strong analytical, written, verbal, and presentation skills with an emphasis on accuracy and detail.

    • Working knowledge of international regulatory standards and systems/databases (specifically Microsoft Office).

    • Awareness of emerging industry developments and digital applications, including FinTech and SupTech.
