Job description

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced CFD Engineers with strong expertise in computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, turbulence modelling, multiphase flow, heat transfer, and simulation validation to contribute to an advanced AI training and engineering evaluation project.

Selected professionals will solve and assess complex CFD problems, review AI-generated engineering responses, and apply practical simulation judgement across meshing, solver configuration, turbulence modelling, boundary-condition specification, convergence analysis, and verification and validation. The work requires strong technical depth, careful engineering reasoning, and clear written and verbal communication. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Advanced CFD Analysis

  • Solve and evaluate complex computational fluid dynamics problems
  • Work across mesh generation, turbulence modelling, multiphase flow, heat transfer, and solver setup
  • Apply practical engineering judgement to both simulation scenarios and theoretical fluid-dynamics questions
  • Assess whether modelling approaches are physically and numerically appropriate
  • Identify assumptions or simplifications that may materially affect simulation quality

Meshing, Turbulence & Solver Configuration

  • Analyse mesh quality and determine whether mesh-independence requirements are adequately addressed
  • Evaluate turbulence-model selection, including RANS, LES, DES, and related approaches where appropriate
  • Review boundary-condition specification, solver settings, and convergence behaviour
  • Identify configuration errors that may produce unstable, inaccurate, or physically unrealistic results
  • Recommend technically sound alternatives when modelling or solver choices are inappropriate

Verification, Validation & Engineering Review

  • Review AI-generated CFD responses for technical correctness and engineering integrity
  • Validate fluid-flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics results using analytical, experimental, or trusted reference data
  • Apply verification and validation principles to simulation results
  • Evaluate whether reported convergence is sufficient and physically meaningful
  • Identify unsupported conclusions, weak validation methodology, and numerical artefacts

Technical Feedback & AI Evaluation

  • Provide clear written and verbal explanations of CFD reasoning, corrections, and engineering trade-offs
  • Document feedback that supports improvements in AI reasoning and technical performance
  • Contribute specialist CFD knowledge to model-evaluation and training workflows
  • Explain complex simulation issues in a structured and reproducible manner
  • Collaborate remotely with other technical experts and project participants

Ideal Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with emphasis on fluid dynamics or thermofluids
  • Alternatively, equivalent practical CFD experience, including at least 3 years of relevant professional work
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting and validating CFD simulations
  • Strong experience with mesh generation, solver setup, turbulence modelling, multiphase or heat-transfer analysis, and post-processing
  • Deep understanding of the Navier-Stokes equations and core fluid-dynamics principles
  • Strong familiarity with RANS, LES, DES, meshing strategies, boundary-condition specification, and verification and validation
  • Experience validating CFD results against analytical calculations, experimental measurements, or trusted reference cases
  • Familiarity with recognised practices such as ASME V&V 20, AIAA CFD verification and validation guidance, or ITTC procedures is advantageous
  • Experience with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, Converge, or comparable platforms is strongly valued
  • Experience may come from aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, HVAC, process, biomedical, or related engineering sectors
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • A history of technical problem authoring, committee participation, competition leadership, or recognised CFD-community contributions is advantageous
  • No prior experience in AI training is required

Engagement Details

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Compensation: $50–$150/hour
  • Compensation is output-based, with payment made for tasks that meet project specifications
  • Minimum weekly submission requirements apply
  • Work will involve CFD problem solving, simulation review, turbulence and meshing analysis, verification and validation, and AI-generated technical-response evaluation
  • Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first tasks within approximately 24–48 hours of completing onboarding
  • Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours
  • Project scope, workload, task complexity, and evaluation requirements may vary depending on project needs
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, research group, or other third party
