Job Description Summary

The Senior Commercial Operations (ComOps) and Contracts Manager is responsible for the management of risk processes in the commercial (Inquiry-to-Order) phase, including contract negotiation, risk review and approval, and overall engagement with the proposal generation process and commercial negotiations, to ensure commercial intensity & compliance to the Grid Solutions Deal Risk Management process (Policy 5.0). This role drives change through adaption & localization initiatives (North America) and improved rigor in deal making/closure and for a better Operational Excellence to ensure proper risk management throughout the deal lifecycle, while closely aligned to customer CTQs.

Essential Responsibilities

As the North America Senior Commercial Operations Manager:

  • Lead customer negotiations, ensuring an acceptable risk profile for GE given the specific scope of supply and deal dynamics; engage with approvers and subject-matter experts as necessary;
  • Review and redline customer terms and conditions (T&Cs) and other commercial documents;
  • Own the ComOps and respective risk process, including the use of tools and governance instances, ensuring development of consistent operations in ITO, adherent to our policies, processes & metrics; Drive early engagement, strategy development and approvals with region, product management, operations, and supporting functions;
  • Partner with tendering to ensure high quality winning proposals and with sales to align commercial strategy with region’s plan for orders, cash and margin … support design and drive implementation of proposal standards and new commercial models to increase market reach;
  • Ensure seamless hand-over of signed contracts to operations team;
  • Interact with other functions and support broader GSI initiatives at the North America and Global levels

For opportunities associated with US Government:

  • Transactional: Lead review and compliance process for all opportunities under GSI (such as contract reviews, Speak approvals, etc)
  • Corporate: Engage with USG governance teams across GE Vernova and within Electrification to ensure compliance and standardized approach to USG initiatives
  • Coordinate USG corporate efforts across Grid Solutions under the ownership of legal, and with inputs and support from each BL (such as SAM registration, DOE funding initiatives, audit requirements, etc)
  • Support OTR Contract Management team in efforts associated with the USG

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal, Engineering or related area from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Commercial Operations, contract management, sales, tendering, bid management and/or project management within energy (T&D, Power Generation, Oil & Gas), industrial, or infrastructure

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with complex projects, developing complex proposals or structuring complex deals
  • In-depth knowledge of contractual terms and conditions; experience in structuring and negotiating contracts to minimize business risk
  • Experience with High Voltage projects, including AC Substations, HVDC (High-Voltage DC) and FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technologies
  • Experience with complex services contracts (Long-Term Service Agreements)
  • Experience with US Government contracting (including FARs, DFARs, COTS, Buy America, etc)
  • Strong contractual & negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution projects or power projects
  • Ability to influence and lead cross functional teams
  • Previous experience in the Energy industry
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Self-sufficiency and ability to program manage
  • Ability to think strategically and be operationally rigorous 
  • Change agent with strong business acumen
  • Familiarity with the use and function of SPEAK4GE (SFDC)

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
