Role: Transformation Programme Manager, Procurement

Procurement at bp is going through its biggest digital and process transformation in a generation. The vision and purpose of this transformation is to make procurement at bp a ‘best-in-class’ function, achieving ‘top quartile’ status across efficiency and effectiveness.

Reporting into the Procurement Transformation PMO, you will take ownership of one or more projects within a portfolio of 15+ initiatives that span all of bp's operating businesses, as part of a 5+ year transformation roadmap that started in 2024.

Key Accountabilities:

  • You will be hands-on in the day-to-day management and delivery of your projects — driving plans, supervising progress, handling risks and keeping stakeholders aligned — while applying the programme and project management standards set by the PMO.
  • You will handle the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects within the Procurement Transformation programme, ensuring they are delivered to plan, budget and agreed outcomes.
  • You will apply programme and project management best practice, working within the standard ways of working and delivery framework set by the PMO.
  • You will work closely with our technology teams on project deliverables, coordinating dependencies and helping hold delivery to account on agreed outcomes.
  • You will coordinate and empower project squads, delivery partners and third-party contractors — leading through influence rather than direct line management — while fostering an inclusive working culture.
  • You will liaise with vendors and colleagues across different time zones, requiring careful coordination between teams.
  • You will keep abreast of developments in rapidly changing industry best practices, as well as bp's internal policies and procedures, to ensure compliance and support continuous improvement.
  • You will ensure your projects are delivered to the scope signed off by the relevant Project Management & Governance groups.
  • You will build, integrate and maintain accurate project schedules — sequencing activities and tracking plans and reporting to support on-time delivery of the wider portfolio.
  • You will identify and highlight risks and issues, working with the PMO and relevant teams to manage and mitigate them, and contributing to a strong risk culture within the teams.
  • You will capture lessons learned and support their embedding into similar projects and initiatives.
  • You will prepare clear, accurate progress reporting, important metrics and benefits supervising for your projects to support PMO and governance reviews.

Essential education & experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Management, Project Management, Procurement, Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field. A Master's degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management and process improvement within large, complex programmes. Procurement-related project management will be an added advantage.
  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, APMG or similar).
  • A track record of managing projects to ensure they are well defined and completed within scope, schedule and budget.
  • Experience of coordinating and motivating delivery teams, squads and third-party contractors in a matrixed environment, without formal line authority.
  • A good understanding of the Source to Pay function — how it runs, delivers value, and its challenges and opportunities.
  • Experience of working cross-culturally and in an international environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation and articulation skills — able to present confidently to senior stakeholders.
