Location: Atomic is a remote-first company. For this position, it means that you can work remotely from any part of LATAM. The company has offices in CA and NY, with engineers distributed across multiple time zones.

The role

We are looking for a backend engineer who wants to own the services that move real money across global markets. You will join a team of 16 engineers (backend, frontend, and infrastructure), working on systems where correctness has financial and regulatory consequences. Engineers at Atomic work directly alongside operations, compliance, and legal to understand requirements, scope solutions, and ship. You will have real autonomy and real accountability.

Once here, you will:

Our highest-priority engineering work right now includes:

  • Instant funding: enabling real-time deposits so end users can invest the moment they transfer money

  • European fund flows: building multi-currency settlement and international clearing for our EU expansion

  • LatAm stablecoin-funded brokerage: designing the infrastructure for stablecoin-based account funding as we enter Latin American markets.

  • Scaling our microservices architecture across custody, trading, and portfolio management as partner volume grows.

Day to day, you will design and build distributed systems and REST/gRPC APIs in Go, make architectural decisions that affect how money moves, and work in a cloud-native stack (Kubernetes on EKS, Istio, Temporal for fault-tolerant workflows, PostgreSQL, AWS Kinesis).

What we are looking for:

We are looking for candidates who are creative, autonomous, curious, and hard-working. Some things that may make you a great fit:

  • +4 years software development experience

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience

  • Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms

  • Experience in successful delivery of high quality production services and systems

  • Track record of delivering high-quality, reliable services at scale

  • Comfort working autonomously with minimal direction in a fast-moving environment

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Prior experience in the financial industry.

  • Experience and interest building out fault-tolerant workflows with Temporal

  • Experience with building secure and compliant systems

Technology Stack

  • Languages: Go, Python, C++

  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes (EKS), AWS, Istio, Jaeger

  • Data & Messaging: PostgreSQL, AWS Kinesis, gRPC

  • Orchestration: Temporal
