Job description

About Virtasant

Virtasant is a global technology services company with a network of over 4,000 technology professionals across 130+ countries. We specialize in cloud architecture, infrastructure, migration, and optimization, helping enterprises scale efficiently while maintaining cost control.

Our clients range from Fortune 500 companies to fast-growing startups, relying on us to build high-performance infrastructure, optimize cloud environments, and enable continuous delivery at scale.

About the role

We are building a senior engineering team for a large enterprise program in healthcare operations and workforce decisioning. The platform helps operations leaders understand what is happening across their workforce, make informed decisions, take action within the enterprise systems they already use, and measure the results.

We need senior back-end engineers who have built and supported production services using TypeScript and Node.js. You will develop the APIs, integrations, decision services, and data services that power the platform, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and multi-tenant architecture.

The team will work across three main areas: Actions & API, Decisions, and Data.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end services using TypeScript and Node.js to support enterprise healthcare operations and workforce decisioning.

  • Build and maintain REST APIs using contract-first development practices, ensuring consistency, versioning, and reliable communication between platform components and external systems.

  • Develop integrations with enterprise systems, including HR, ERP, and workforce-management platforms, ensuring reliable data exchange and safe execution of write-back operations.

  • Implement robust integration patterns, including idempotency, retries, event-driven processing, dead-letter queues, and reconciliation mechanisms to ensure data consistency.

  • Build and maintain decision services, business rules, and outcome-tracking capabilities that help translate operational insights into actionable decisions.

  • Develop and support data services and pipelines that process, transform, and make operational data available to the platform.

  • Design and implement secure multi-tenant services, ensuring strict data isolation and appropriate access controls across customer environments.

  • Build and maintain cloud-native services using Azure, AWS, or GCP, including containerized applications and automated CI/CD pipelines.

  • Implement comprehensive unit, integration, and contract tests to maintain service reliability, performance, and compatibility.

  • Collaborate with front-end engineers, data engineers, platform engineers, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions.

  • Use AI-assisted development tools and coding agents to accelerate implementation while maintaining code quality, security, and engineering standards.

  • Take ownership of services throughout their lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to production deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements.

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Experience

  • Senior TypeScript and Node.js experience. At least 5 years building production back-end services, with recent hands-on experience using TypeScript and Node.js. You have built, launched, and supported services in production.

  • Contract-first API development. You have designed REST APIs using OpenAPI specifications and generated server types, clients, and tests from API contracts. You understand API versioning and how to maintain compatibility across consumers.

  • Enterprise system integrations. You have built integrations that write data back into external enterprise systems, such as HR, ERP, or vendor-management platforms. You understand idempotency, retries, backoff, outbox patterns, dead-letter queues, and reconciliation.

  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture. You have built services with strict tenant isolation across the data layer, authorization, and testing. You understand the importance of preventing cross-tenant data exposure.

  • Cloud and security experience. You have production experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, containers, and CI/CD. Azure and Entra ID experience is a strong advantage.

  • Testing discipline. You regularly implement unit, integration, and contract testing as part of your development process.

  • AI-assisted development. You use AI coding assistants or agents in your daily development workflow and know how to review, test, and validate the code they generate.

  • Strong English communication. You are fluent in written and spoken English and comfortable collaborating directly with US-based engineers and client stakeholders.

  • Available around December 1, 2026.
    Nice-to-haves

  • Java experience or familiarity with rules and decision engines, such as DMN decision tables or Drools.

  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt, SQL Server, Azure SQL, or other modern cloud data platforms.

  • Graph database experience, particularly Neo4j and Cypher.

  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues, such as Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, or equivalent technologies.

  • Experience integrating with Workday or vendor-management systems.

  • Experience building tools for AI assistants, including MCP servers and LLM tool-calling integrations.

  • Experience implementing audit trails, approval workflows, and versioned configuration in regulated environments.

  • Healthcare operations or workforce-management domain experience.
