Job Summary

The Director, Manufacturing Network Strategy will lead the development, execution, and governance of the company’s manufacturing network strategy. This role is responsible for evaluating and optimizing the manufacturing footprint, capabilities, capacity, and long-term network strategy to support business growth and operational performance.The position will lead make-versus-buy analysis, manufacturing location strategy, scenario planning, facility moves, acquisition integration, and network optimization initiatives. This leader will work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Quality, Product Development, and Commercial teams to ensure product launch and manufacturing decisions align with the overall network strategy. The Director, Manufacturing Network Strategy will also lead the network PMO, develop business cases and execution plans, establish governance processes, and provide leadership with clear recommendations based on financial, operational, capacity, service, and risk considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing network strategy, including manufacturing footprint, facility capabilities, capacity, and long-term network evolution.
  • Develop and lead make-versus-buy, insourcing, outsourcing, and manufacturing location analyses.
  • Lead scenario modeling and network optimization initiatives considering capacity, capability, cost, service, risk, and resilience.
  • Evaluate manufacturing footprint, asset utilization, facility moves, and future network requirements.
  • Lead the Network PMO, including project intake, scope definition, prioritization, integrated planning, dependency management, and executive reporting.
  • Develop clear business cases, financial and operational trade-off analyses, and execution plans for strategic initiatives.
  • Assess geopolitical, economic, and operational factors that may impact manufacturing and supply chain network decisions.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Engineering, Product Development, and Commercial teams to align network strategy with business priorities.
  • Partner with Engineering to evaluate new product designs and ensure alignment with manufacturing capabilities, facility strategies, and DFX principles.
  • Support new product introduction decisions by aligning product requirements with manufacturing capabilities and network strategy.
  • Define the network analytics roadmap, KPI structure, and dashboards to monitor performance, risk, program progress, and benefits realization.
  • Establish governance processes, common evaluation frameworks, and regular strategy reviews with leadership.
  • Support manufacturing network integration related to acquisitions and other future organizational or footprint changes.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing team while promoting accountability, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain strategy, manufacturing network design, manufacturing operations, operations strategy, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience building and leading analytical, strategy, PMO, or similar teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing network strategy, scenario modeling, and network optimization.
  • Experience with manufacturing footprint analysis, capacity planning, asset utilization, and make-versus-buy decisions.
  • Experience developing business cases and evaluating financial and operational trade-offs.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing environments and the relationship between product design, engineering, manufacturing capabilities, and network strategy.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional strategic programs or portfolios.
  • Experience establishing governance processes, standardized methodologies, and project or portfolio management disciplines.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar platforms.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Product Development, and Commercial functions.
  • PMP or similar project management experience is a plus.
