Scope:

The SIU Analyst/Specialist supports the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), through analytical research, investigative support, fraud identification, and intelligence development. This position assists SIU leadership and investigators with reviewing referrals, identifying patterns and relationships, conducting database and open-source research, and developing actionable intelligence to support effective triage, fraud detection, and investigation.  This role works collaboratively with Claims, Legal, Underwriting, Compliance, and other business units to identify and mitigate potentially fraudulent or suspicious activity  

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Review and analyze incoming SIU referrals for fraud indicators, investigative value, and supporting information.
  • Conduct preliminary research to assist SIU leadership with referral triage and investigative prioritization.
  • Provide investigative research and analytical support to SIU Investigators throughout the investigative process.
  • Research individuals, businesses, vehicles, properties, addresses, medical providers, attorneys, repair facilities, and other relevant entities using approved investigative resources.
  • Identify relationships, patterns, inconsistencies, prior claims, and potentially related activity.
  • Analyze claim and investigative data to identify emerging fraud trends, suspicious patterns, geographical concentrations, and potential organized activity.
  • Develop timelines, analytical summaries, link analyses, investigative leads, and intelligence reports.
  • Assist with proactive SIU initiatives and targeted reviews involving identified fraud trends or high-risk activity.
  • Support SIU reporting, dashboards, referral statistics, investigative outcomes, and trend analysis.
  • Prepare fraud alerts, intelligence summaries, and other analytical materials for SIU leadership and business units.
  • Participate in investigative roundtables and collaborate with Claims, Legal, Underwriting, Compliance, Law Enforcement, NICB, and other authorized partners as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure all research and investigative activity comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Monitor adjuster and department referral volume and quality to assess referral performance.

Education:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred and 2-3 years of related work experience.

Qualifications:
 
  • Experience in insurance, claims, SIU, investigations, fraud analysis, intelligence analysis, law enforcement data analysis, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance claims and fraud indicators preferred.
  • Strong analytical, investigative research, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize patterns, relationships, inconsistencies, and anomalies across multiple information sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly summarize analytical findings.
  • Experience with investigative databases, public-record research, claim systems, spreadsheets, and analytical tools preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
