Job description

We’re VOID Interactive, the kick-ass team behind the best-selling FPS game Ready or Not, which has sold over 13 million copies across all platforms. We’re a fully remote, 80+ person studio made up of seriously talented individuals from all over the world who love games and creating exceptional experiences for players.

We’re looking for an Associate Cinematic Animator to join our team and help create compelling in-game cinematics and scripted story sequences. You’ll work with both hand-keyed animation and motion capture data, collaborating with experienced animators and other disciplines to bring characters and narrative moments to life.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career animator who has strong animation fundamentals, an eye for cinematic storytelling and a genuine interest in developing their skills within a supportive, collaborative team.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating high-quality character animation for in-game vignettes, cinematics and scripted story sequences
  • Working with both hand-keyed animation techniques and motion capture data
  • Integrating, testing and refining animations directly within Unreal Engine
  • Working with tools and systems such as Sequencer, animation montages, animation layers and Unreal cinematic plug-ins
  • Collaborating with designers, riggers, programmers and fellow animators to balance visual quality with technical and gameplay requirements
  • Creating character performances that strengthen the emotion and impact of narrative sequences
  • Assisting with motion capture shoots, data processing and animation cleanup
  • Troubleshooting animation and implementation issues with support from senior team members
  • Responding constructively to feedback and iterating on work to achieve the desired creative result
  • Learning and adapting to proprietary tools, pipelines and workflows

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 1+ years of professional production experience, or equivalent experience gained through an internship, junior position or relevant game-development projects
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Maya, including animation layers and the Graph Editor
  • A solid understanding of realistic body mechanics, weight, timing and movement
  • An understanding of character body and facial performance
  • Familiarity with the principles and visual language of cinematography
  • A strong eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • A willingness to receive feedback, learn from senior team members and continue developing your craft
  • The ability to work independently within a collaborative, remote-first environment

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Familiarity with MotionBuilder
  • Experience cleaning up and refining motion capture data
  • Experience implementing animation within a game engine
  • A love of playing and creating video games

Please note: For Irish residents, this role is offered as a full-time employee position. For applicants based outside of Ireland, the role will be offered on a contractor basis. We are a remote-first company and are committed to hiring the best candidate for the role, regardless of where you are located. If you are outside our company’s home base, that’s okay with us.
