We are searching for the best talent for a Manager, Practice Development Education to join our J&J Surgical Vision team.  This position is remote based in the US.

Purpose:

The Manager, Practice Development Education will help lead the development and execution of customer-focused education and practice development initiatives that support the growth of the J&J Surgical Vision business across North America. This role partners closely with Commercial, Marketing, Professional Education, Medical Affairs, Corporate Accounts, and Sales Training to deliver innovative education programs and practice solutions that enhance customer capabilities, improve patient outcomes, accelerate premium conversion, and strengthen adoption of the J&J Surgical Vision portfolio.

The individual will serve as a trusted advisor to eye care professionals and practice stakeholders by delivering best practices, business insights, and educational experiences that help customers optimize clinical, operational, and financial performance. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Practice Development Education.

You will be responsible for:

Practice Development Strategy & Customer Transformation

  • Help lead the development and execution of practice development programs designed to improve business performance, premium conversion, patient engagement, and overall practice effectiveness across ophthalmology and optometry accounts.

  • Partner with commercial and corporate account teams to identify customer opportunities and deliver strategic solutions aligned to customer and business objectives.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on practice optimization, patient flow, workflow efficiency, and customer growth strategies.

Customer Education & Capability Building

  • Deliver impactful educational programs through in-person, virtual, and hybrid learning experiences that advance customer knowledge, skills, and confidence.

  • Help design and implement scalable education solutions that support adoption of the J&J Surgical Vision portfolio and evolving customer needs.

  • Facilitate learning experiences that enable customers to improve clinical and business outcomes.

Professional & Peer-to-Peer Education Leadership

  • Lead peer-to-peer educational initiatives that foster knowledge sharing among ophthalmologists, optometrists, practice administrators, technicians, and clinic staff.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, faculty members, and industry experts to expand engagement and educational impact.

  • Support the identification and development of customer success stories and best practices that can be leveraged across the organization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Content Development

  • Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Professional Education, Sales Training, and Corporate Accounts to develop customer-centric educational resources and tools.

  • Ensure educational content is aligned with business strategy, customer needs, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate across functions to drive consistency, quality, and effectiveness of education programs and customer engagements.

Commercial Enablement & Field Partnership

  • Support regional meetings, national sales meetings, industry congresses, professional education events, and customer programs as a subject matter expert.

  • Equip field teams with resources, tools, and insights that enhance customer conversations and business impact.

  • Partner with field leadership to drive successful execution and sustainability of educational initiatives.

Measurement, Insights & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate program effectiveness, customer engagement, and business impact.

  • Analyze data and customer insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Share learnings and best practices to enhance organizational capabilities and customer outcomes.

Innovation & Market Leadership

  • Monitor marketplace trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs within ophthalmology and optometry.

  • Support new product introductions, market development activities, and innovation initiatives through education and customer engagement.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen J&J Surgical Vision leadership through differentiated education and practice development solutions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. 

  • Minimum of 6+ years experience in ophthalmology, optometry, eye care, medical devices, or a related healthcare environment. 

  • Deep knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostics, biometry, patient flow, refractive cataract surgery, and practice operations. 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational programs for healthcare professionals. 

  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills. 

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders without direct authority. 

  • Experience working in virtual, live, and hybrid educational environments. 

  • Ability to travel approximately 60% throughout the United States and Canada.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in practice management, premium conversion strategies, and customer business optimization. 

  • Experience supporting commercial organizations within Medical Device, Vision Care, or Ophthalmology markets. 

  • Faculty, speaker, training, or professional education experience.

  • Experience developing educational content, digital learning resources, and customer engagement programs.

  • Advanced ophthalmic certifications or additional clinical credentials preferred.

$117,000.00 - $201,250.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).


Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:


Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
