Job description

Role: Operations Manager – Concrete Restoration
Location: Washington, D.C. / DMV Area
Work Arrangement: Field-Based / On-Site
Travel: Approximately 50%+ local travel
Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 base + 5–8% annual bonus, depending on experience

About HV Talent Group
At HV Talent Group, we connect experienced professionals with leading employers and direct-hire opportunities that align with their expertise, career goals, and long-term growth. We partner with established organizations to identify exceptional talent for key leadership and operational positions.

Our client is a well-established, privately owned specialty contractor with approximately 30 employees and a strong presence throughout the DMV market. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Concrete Restoration to work closely with ownership and become a key operational leader—the owner's “right-hand man.” This is an opportunity to take significant responsibility for day-to-day operations while contributing to estimating, pricing, business development, and long-term growth.

Position Summary
The Operations Manager will oversee approximately four field crews, the construction shop/delivery warehouse, and day-to-day field operations across the Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland markets. This is not a traditional office or remote position. The role is primarily field-based and requires regular visits to job sites, meetings with superintendents, reviewing work in progress, coordinating crews and materials, and resolving operational issues.

The successful candidate will work closely with ownership, field supervisors, suppliers, engineers, property owners, and customers to ensure projects are properly staffed, supplied, scheduled, and completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations for approximately four field crews.
  • Coordinate crew schedules, productivity, materials, suppliers, and job-site activities.
  • Visit project sites regularly to inspect work, meet with superintendents, and address operational issues.
  • Ensure crews have the materials, equipment, and resources needed to complete projects.
  • Coordinate the movement of materials between the shop/warehouse and job sites.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, quality, safety, and completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, property owners, engineers, and industry contacts.
  • Assist with bids, estimating, pricing, and evaluation of potential business opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage local industry relationships and expand the company's market presence.
  • Support ownership with strategic planning and operational decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and accountability.
Required Experience – Concrete Restoration
Concrete restoration experience is a non-negotiable requirement for this position.

Candidates must have meaningful hands-on experience in concrete restoration, with experience involving parking garages strongly preferred.

Relevant backgrounds include
  • Concrete restoration
  • Parking garage restoration
  • Structural concrete repair
  • Concrete repair and rehabilitation
  • Restoration estimating and/or field operations
  • Waterproofing experience combined with relevant concrete restoration experience
The following backgrounds alone do NOT meet the requirement:
  • Fire restoration
  • Mold restoration
  • Flood restoration
  • General disaster restoration
  • General construction without concrete restoration
  • General field management
  • Waterproofing without relevant concrete restoration experience
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate understands the concrete restoration business from both an operational and commercial perspective. A strong background may include progression from field supervisor into operations management, or experience as an estimator who also possesses strong field and project-management knowledge.

We are looking for someone who can effectively bridge:

Field Operations + Estimating/Pricing + Management + Local Market Relationships

Approximately 3–5 years of relevant concrete restoration experience is ideal, although candidates with significantly more experience are welcome. Exceptional candidates with approximately one year of highly relevant local concrete-restoration experience may also be considered.

Local DMV Experience
Local market knowledge and relationships are extremely important.

Candidates should ideally already be established in the Washington, D.C./DMV market and have relationships or familiarity with local:

  • Property owners
  • Engineers
  • Customers
  • Suppliers
  • Contractors
  • Industry contacts
  • Relocation assistance is not available. This position is intended for someone who can bring existing DMV market knowledge and relationships—not simply someone relocating into the area.
Work Environment & Travel

This is a field-focused leadership position with approximately 50% or more local travel throughout the DMV area. Approximately two-thirds of projects are located in the D.C./Arlington area.

The Operations Manager will not be required to report to the office every day, but this is also not a work-from-home position. Regular job-site visits and time at the company office/shop will be required based on operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in concrete restoration, preferably parking garage restoration.
  • Previous construction operations and/or project management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating crews, schedules, materials, suppliers, and job-site activities.
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, estimating, and/or pricing.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with owners, engineers, customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices; OSHA training is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout the DMV market.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $100,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual Bonus: Approximately 5–8%, based on performance.
  • Company Vehicle
  • Company Gas Card
  • Simple IRA
  • PTO: Approximately 3–4 weeks depending on experience; negotiable for the right candidate.
  • Cell Phone and necessary technology/equipment
  • Healthcare allowance may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
Why Join?
This is a rare opportunity to join a privately owned, owner-operated organization where your contributions will have a direct and visible impact. The company offers a more hands-on, collaborative, and less bureaucratic environment than many larger competitors and provides direct access to ownership.

The long-term goal is to find someone who can become the owner's trusted right-hand leader, assume significant day-to-day operational responsibility, and grow into an important part of the organization's future. This is a long-term career opportunity, not a short-term stop.
