We combine deep revenue cycle expertise, a global workforce, and advanced technology across analytics, AI, intelligent automation, and workflow orchestration to help healthcare organizations improve performance at scale.

As Vice President, Security Technology (Deputy CISO), you will help lead, scale, and mature R1’s enterprise security program with a strong focus on clients, products, applications, suppliers, and growth initiatives. Reporting to the CISO, you will translate security strategy into operational execution while helping R1 meet complex customer, contractual, regulatory, and business requirements.

This role combines core program maturity with fast-paced, dynamic growth, including new ventures, integrations, and global initiatives. To thrive in this role, you should be technically credible, commercially aware, and energized by working directly with customers and business leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CISO to define and execute security strategy, priorities, and measurable outcomes for client-facing and product security capabilities.
  • Lead customer and supplier security engagement, application and product security, customer identity and access management, and security support for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and new ventures.
  • Advise internal executives and customer leaders on security risk, resilience, contractual requirements, and program effectiveness.
  • Oversee responses to customer security requirements, assessments, questionnaires, onsite reviews, and related compliance obligations.
  • Integrate security into products, applications, customer solutions, vendor relationships, acquisitions, and enterprise growth initiatives.
  • Lead security due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions, partnerships, and new ventures.
  • Establish KPIs and KRIs, communicate material risks, and support executive-level decisions and enterprise risk management.
  • Coordinate with customers during security incidents and incorporate lessons learned into program improvements.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing organization, including succession planning, budget ownership, talent development, and hiring decisions.
  • Represent the security organization in executive, customer, business, and cross-functional forums.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive security and information technology experience, including 10+ years leading large-scale teams and enterprise programs.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise security functions across multiple domains in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Significant client-facing experience, including the ability to build credibility with customer executives and translate technical risk into business terms.
  • Deep experience with application and product security, customer identity and access management, governance, risk, compliance, and supplier security.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, joint ventures, or new business launches in fast-moving environments.
  • Executive presence, sound judgment, business acumen, and the ability to influence across technology, operations, legal, compliance, privacy, risk, product, and commercial teams.
  • Experience owning budgets, making hiring decisions, and developing senior leaders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for customer meetings, onsite visits, leadership needs, and global business initiatives. Travel may be domestic or international.
  • Industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CRISC, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in financial services, large-scale healthcare, or technology-enabled services is preferred.
  • Experience supporting international business initiatives, including work in the Middle East, is preferred.
