As an Engineering Manager for our Gamification team, you’ll lead a team of talented, highly-motivated engineers focused on building the most rewarding experience for our millions of loyal members. You’ll partner closely with product, design, marketing, data, and engineering leaders to plan and deliver new and improved features and capabilities that strengthen member engagement and retention. You’ll set a high bar for execution and engineering excellence, and help your team move quickly from opportunity to polished experiences.

What you you’ll do:

  • Determine where tech investments must be made to maintain system health and long-term success.
  • Work with engineers to plan, sequence, discuss tradeoffs, and deliver measurable success. 
  • Hire and coach an exceptional team through one-on-one’s, goal setting, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain a continuously improving, honest, and visible delivery cadence.
  • Close ownership gaps and build durable fixes to keep the team on track.
  • Manage urgency and escalate early to stay ahead of risks.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish clear deliverables and milestones.

What you have:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience managing a team of five or more engineers and testers.
  • Strong understanding of distributed, backend systems and user-facing features, ideally related to gamification platforms and products.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience collaborating across engineering teams and cross-functional partners.
  • Cultivate high-performing engineering squads by utilizing thoughtful delegation, defining distinct ownership, and maintaining firm accountability standards.
  • Solid technical fluency to ask critical questions, align cross-functional partners, and effectively navigate engineering discussions.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and shipping mission-critical B2C systems where data correctness and rollout strategy are critical to success.
  • Experience driving incidents and post-mortems from ambiguity to resolution, effectively communicating root causes and preventing future occurrences.

What makes you stand out:

  • Excel at building reusable frameworks and decision models that solve immediate problems and serve teams long-term.
  • Skilled in feature-gate/experimentation and popular A/B testing platforms.
  • Hands-on professional experience in one or more of our core stacks:
    • JavaScript/TypeScript — React
    • Ruby — Rails, Roda
    • Golang — Echo

Where you’ll live:

While we prefer candidates based in Atlanta, we are open to qualified applicants from anywhere in the U.S. and are willing to consider remote candidates. #LI-Remote

Working at PrizePicks:

The typical salary range for this position is $200,000 to $215,000. At PrizePicks, we consider your role, level, and where you'll be working when determining our salary ranges. The compensation info you see on our job postings gives you an idea of the starting pay range for the position. Your actual pay within that range will depend on your specific work location, as well as your skills, experience, and education. Your 

recruiter will be happy to chat more about the specific pay range for your location and how we arrived at it during the hiring process.
