Job description

Overview:

LMI is seeking an experienced DevSecOps & Cloud Automation Engineer to support the U.S. Army Training Information System (ATIS) program. ATIS is modernizing Army training systems into a secure, cloud-native enterprise capability. Working within a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART), this hands-on individual contributor role will build, secure, maintain, and optimize the automation, infrastructure, and CI/CD capabilities that support ATIS applications in AWS GovCloud.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed technical problem solver who can independently solve complex engineering challenges, improve existing solutions, reduce unnecessary complexity, communicate clearly, and collaborate across application, cloud, architecture, and cybersecurity teams. This role requires someone who is comfortable both providing technical direction and personally implementing solutions.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and standardize GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including reusable jobs, parent/child pipelines, runners, triggers, and integrated security testing.

• Build and maintain AWS GovCloud infrastructure using Terraform and other automation, emphasizing reusable, resilient, secure, and maintainable solutions.

• Create and maintain Ansible Playbooks for Windows and Linux installation, patching, hardening, configuration, and operational support.

• Support AWS services and containerized workloads, including EC2, RDS, ECR/EKS, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, and approved/hardened container images such as Iron Bank.

• Automate security controls, vulnerability remediation, and validation; support DoD security tooling such as ACAS, Elastic Agent, CloudWatch agents, and related capabilities.

• Troubleshoot and independently resolve complex infrastructure, pipeline, operating system, networking, container, and security issues.

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve existing DevSecOps and cloud capabilities while reducing technical debt and redundant solutions.

• Collaborate across application, cloud, cybersecurity, and architecture teams to develop and implement solutions that support changing ATIS priorities.

• Create and maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and reusable patterns that enable team self-sufficiency and knowledge transfer.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers while remaining directly engaged in hands-on engineering and implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Working knowledge of containers, cloud networking, IAM, and secure infrastructure design.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity guardrails, vulnerability remediation, and automated security validation in secure or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, pipeline, operating system, networking, container, and security issues.
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, and independent problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across application, cloud, architecture, and cybersecurity teams and manage competing priorities.
