The Senior Network Architect is a highly skilled subject matter expert responsible for designing, architecting, and leading complex and strategic network initiatives.

This role involves setting network technology standards, driving innovation, and providing technical leadership in network infrastructure design and implementation.

The Senior Network Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping network strategies and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of advanced network solutions, including LAN, WAN, Data Center, Cloud, and Hybrid Cloud environments.
  • Develop highly scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing network architectures to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Define and establish network technology standards, best practices, architecture principles, and technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate new networking technologies and recommend their adoption based on business and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to strategic network initiatives that align with the company's long-term technology and business goals.
  • Introduce innovative solutions and approaches to enhance network performance, security, availability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and manage network projects from inception through completion.
  • Ensure project objectives are achieved, resources are allocated effectively, and project milestones are delivered successfully.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders to ensure network solutions align with overall business strategies.
  • Serve as a senior-level subject matter expert and provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to network engineering and operations teams.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with network vendors, service providers, cloud providers, and technology partners.
  • Evaluate vendor offerings and technical solutions and provide recommendations aligned with organizational requirements.
  • Lead efforts to optimize network performance by analyzing traffic patterns, implementing appropriate QoS strategies, improving network resiliency, and enhancing availability.
  • Stay current with emerging networking technologies, industry trends, and technology developments and assess their applicability to the organization.
  • Develop and maintain high-level network documentation, including architecture diagrams, HLD/LLD documents, configuration templates, standards, and technical guidelines.
  • Perform network capacity planning to accommodate anticipated business growth and evolving technology requirements.
  • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership for network transformation, modernization, migration, and optimization initiatives.
  • Lead architecture reviews and ensure network designs comply with established enterprise standards, security requirements, and best practices.
  • Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex network architecture, performance, and connectivity issues.

Knowledge and Attributes

  • Extensive understanding of advanced networking concepts, protocols, architectures, and services.
  • Extensive proficiency in designing, configuring, and managing complex network environments, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, SD-WAN, and cloud networking technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced network protocols and technologies such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN/EVPN, SD-WAN, QoS, IPv4/IPv6, and advanced security protocols.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise LAN, WAN, Data Center, Internet, and Hybrid Cloud architectures.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud networking.
  • Strong understanding of network security architecture, firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, network segmentation, and secure connectivity.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with network monitoring, analysis, troubleshooting, and performance management tools.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Extensive proficiency in network administration, configuration, and architecture tools.
  • Proven experience leading and managing large-scale network architecture, transformation, and migration projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient network architectures.
  • Strong ability to align network strategies and technology roadmaps with business objectives.
  • Ability to work effectively with global teams, senior leadership, vendors, service providers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Active CCIE certification is mandatory.
  • Preferred CCIE specializations include:
    • CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure
    • CCIE Service Provider
    • CCIE Security
  • Relevant cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud are preferred.
  • Additional networking or security certifications are an advantage.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 15–18+ years of experience in the Network and Security domain.
  • Extensive experience in network engineering, architecture, and progressively responsible technical leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience working in large-scale enterprise networking environments.
  • Extensive experience designing and architecting complex LAN and WAN environments.
  • Extensive experience with network security and enterprise security architectures.
  • Extensive experience with Data Center networking and connectivity.
  • Extensive experience with cloud networking, including Azure and/or AWS.
  • Extensive experience with SD-WAN and software-defined networking (SDN) concepts.
  • Proven experience with network transformation, modernization, migration, and optimization initiatives.
  • Proven experience working with network vendors, ISPs, cloud providers, and technology partners.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and architectural direction to engineering and operations teams.

Mandatory Requirements

  • 15–18+ years of relevant Network and Security experience.
  • Active CCIE certification – Mandatory.
  • Strong enterprise network architecture and design experience.
  • Expert-level Cisco networking experience.
  • Strong expertise in BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, LAN/WAN, and Data Center networking.
  • Strong experience with network security technologies.
  • Strong experience with cloud and hybrid network architectures.
  • Proven experience leading complex network projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Location

Pune, India – Remote
