What’s the role?
Under the general direction of the Head of Sales ECP & VTS, the Regional Business Development Manager (RBDM) provides strategic and regional leadership for sales operations within the Eye Care Professional channel. The role is accountable for achieving sales objectives within the assigned territory/region of the optometry marketplace by thinking strategically, acting regionally, and driving results that support the company, the region, and Business Development Representatives and sales agents.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Provide planning and direction to ensure strong employee/ sales agent working relationships, motivation, training, ongoing coaching, and guidance, while promoting alignment with applicable corporate policies and standards.
    Conceptualize, recommend, and develop programs and plans to ensure product penetration and results to meet sales objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and report on sales plans and programs to drive effective market penetration of ZEISS products within the ECP marketplace.

  • Plan and conduct various technical/sales/business presentations to include regional, provincial, and national conventions, seminars, trade shows, and other professional meetings.

  • Gather and analyze competitive data and information and communicate findings and recommendations to the Head of Sales.

  • Prepare sales forecasts and projections aligned with company objectives and strategic priorities.

  • Work with other Regional Business Development Managers to achieve sales objectives and share best practices.

  • Collaborate with relevant buying groups in the territory/region to ensure smooth operations and provide effective sales and marketing support

  • Work with corporate functions, such as Credit Services/Finance for customer financial status and sales data updates, marketing for development of customer programs and new product launches, Commercial Operations to develop support systems for sales team, partner and develop relationships with Rx Laboratories and Customer Service for resolving customer issues.

  • Support BDRs and sales agents by enabling the knowledge, capabilities, and resources needed to achieve agreed‑upon objectives.

  • Lead talent planning activities, including hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching, to build effective customer relationships and ensure strong representation and sales of ZEISS product lines.

  • Support customers in growing their business through sales leadership, market development initiatives, and strategic engagement.

  • Prepare the sales team for and support the execution of Quarterly Business Reviews, as directed by the Head of Sales for the division.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Do you qualify?

  • 7+ years in a successful business to business sales environment, preferably in Rx sales, optical, medical device or retail operations industry with Fortune 500 companies.

  • 2+ years prior management experience

  • 2+ years experience in business development.

  • Bachelors in Business Administration/Marketing.

  • Strong sales focus with the ability to move key opportunities through the sales cycle, providing detailed and accurate sales forecasts using Salesforce.com.

  • Bilingual required. French: C1 Business fluent / negotiation proficiency.

  • Must live in Quebec.

  • Must have a car with a valid drivers license.

Preferred Skills:

  • Licensed optician preferred
  • Experience with salesforce.com or other CRM preferred.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication required.
