We are currently seeking a highly skilled ALC Developer to support and modernize legacy mainframe systems within a federal environment.

Overview:

 This position plays a critical role in maintaining assembler-based applications that underpin essential government operations. The ideal candidate is experienced with IBM Assembler Language Code (ALC), thrives in a Z/OS environment, and is eager to contribute to system modernization initiatives.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain IBM Assembler Language Code (ALC) programs on Z/OS mainframes
  • Conduct trial runs, debug programs, and ensure efficient performance
  • Modify existing assembler code to meet new technical or business requirements
  • Work closely with systems analysts and other IT staff to define and resolve issues
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for program logic, workflows, and updates
  • Interface with front-end systems and support modernization efforts (e.g., migration to Java or MongoDB)
  • Ensure compliance with federal standards, data protection laws, and agency-specific security protocols

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree)
  • 4–8 years of experience working with ALC in a mainframe environment
  • Proficient in IBM Job Control Language (JCL), TSO, ISPF, and common debugging tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Clearance: Active IRS MBI(Public trust) required.
