About Commerce & Payments Team:
The Commerce & Payments team is a newly formed organization to add HighLevel’s evolving capabilities and make it both a Commerce Platform and a surface where our customers can perform their sales motions for their products. Building Catalogs, subscriptions, fulfillment , payment processing engines, inventory mgmt, pricing, documents/contracts and more to enable our SMBs to increase their revenue will be the core focus of the org. Hardly any tech debt, mostly green field work working closely with product folks to build, ship and refine our Commerce offerings makes this an exciting place to learn, engage and thrive.
About the Role:

We’re building a global commerce platform to power $1T+ in annual transactions for millions of SMEs.  As an SDE III, you’ll design core models—subscriptions, payments, reconciliation , and tax —plus the services around them.  You’ll define event contracts , data policies , and consistency guarantees to ensure every transaction is correct by design, traceable, and delightful at scale.


Responsibilities:
  • Design and ship multi-tenant services: checkout, subscriptions, payments orchestration, invoicing, tax hooks  
  • Integrate PSPs and local methods (UPI, wallets, BNPL, cards/3DS) with resilient webhooks and idempotent APIs / Implement an append-only double-entry ledger; apply event sourcing/CQRS where it improves scale and correctness
  • Write production-grade code with deep test coverage and OpenTelemetry instrumentation  
  • Operate on GKE with CI/CD, autoscaling, SLIs/SLOs, and on-call ownership  
  • Collaborate with PM/Design and mentor junior engineers

  • Requirements:
  • 2+ years in software development
  • Experience with MongoDB/Firestore, Redis, and event-driven systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub)
  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals: idempotency, retries, ordering, concurrency, and consistency
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and GCP; familiarity with secrets/KMS and PCI basics
  • Deep testing discipline: unit, integration, contract, and performance testing
  • Schema design for scale and backward compatibility
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build responsive, accessible, and performant UIs that integrate cleanly with backend APIs
  • Familiarity with component-driven design, state management, and modern frontend tooling (Vite, ESLint, etc.)
