The Director, Portfolio Brands will own and grow the US retail partner business for NewAge Products' emerging sub-brand portfolio – a growing family of sub-brands that extend beyond the company's core assortment into new consumer categories. The role is accountable for sub-brand revenue generated through retail channels – big-box and mass retail, independent and specialty retailers, online marketplaces, and emerging formats – and is distinct from both the direct-to-consumer business and the teams managing NewAge's core assortment. The Director will build retail distribution from the ground up: developing the channel strategy, opening new doors, and serving as the senior commercial voice for these brands' retail partners.

Initially an individual contributor, the role carries a mandate to build and lead a retail sales team as the portfolio scales. The ideal candidate brings genuine multi-channel breadth – spanning big-box account leadership, independent retail development, and marketplace retail – with established buyer relationships and experience introducing new brands or categories to retail. This is a fully remote US-based role with regular domestic travel and occasional travel to NewAge's head office in Canada.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Strategy & Channel Growth

  • Develop and own the US retail sales strategy for the emerging sub-brand portfolio, including channel plans, promotional and line review programs, assortment strategies, and new account acquisition roadmaps across big-box, independent and specialty retail, online marketplaces, and emerging formats
  • Build retail distribution for new and recently launched sub-brands from the ground up – securing first placements, establishing programs, and expanding door counts as each brand matures
  • Own delivery of sub-brand retail revenue and margin objectives, with tailored strategies by customer, channel, and brand
  • Leverage NewAge's established retailer relationships and commercial infrastructure where appropriate, while developing distribution paths independent of the core assortment
  • Optimize where and how each sub-brand shows up at retail – assessing account profitability and strategic fit, and monitoring cross-channel pricing and program integrity to prevent channel conflict

Commercial & Category Alignment

  • Shape retail pricing, promotional, and discounting strategies for each sub-brand in partnership with the brand and category teams, ensuring programs are channel-appropriate and commercially sound
  • Align retail programs with each sub-brand's direct-to-consumer presence to maintain price and program harmony across channels
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics within each sub-brand's category to inform positioning, assortment, and product development priorities

Account & Retailer Management

  • Build and maintain productive relationships across buying, merchandising, e-commerce, and marketing teams at national big-box accounts, independent and specialty retailers, and marketplace platforms
  • Lead line reviews, program negotiations, and joint business planning, navigating program changes and competitive pressures while balancing NewAge's commercial interests with the long-term needs of each partner
  • Travel regularly to meet buyers, visit retail locations, and represent the sub-brands at key trade shows and market events
  • Coordinate closely with the teams managing NewAge's core assortment at shared retail accounts to keep account plans aligned and conflict-free
  • Ensure retail partners are equipped to present each sub-brand effectively in-store and online, including product training, merchandising support, and content alignment

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Partner with Product Development, Marketing, Demand Forecasting, Operations, Supply Chain, and E-Commerce teams to align each sub-brand's assortment, go-to-market strategy, forecasts, and promotional programs with retail customer needs
  • Serve as the senior internal voice of the retail customer for the sub-brand portfolio, bringing market insights and voice-of-customer feedback into cross-functional decisions
  • Work with the leadership team to identify and execute incremental growth opportunities, including future sub-brand or category additions
  • Operate initially as a hands-on individual contributor while establishing the processes, coverage model, and pipeline discipline for a scalable retail sales organization
  • Build and lead a US retail sales team over time – creating forward-looking resource plans, advocating for the structure required as the portfolio scales, and defining roles, hiring, and developing talent

Reporting & Market Intelligence

  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitor activity, and retailer strategies across the categories in which the sub-brands compete
  • Develop KPIs and reporting to measure sub-brand performance across channels, presenting results to senior management on a regular cadence, explaining significant deltas, and creating proactive plans to course-correct
  • Other related duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Sales, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive retail sales experience in consumer products, with demonstrated success across multiple retail channels – big-box or mass retail, independent or specialty retail, and online marketplaces
  • Proven track record of managing and growing national retail accounts – leading line reviews, negotiating programs, and delivering against revenue and margin targets – with an established network of buyer and vendor-manager relationships in the US retail landscape
  • Experience introducing new brands or product categories to retail – securing first placements and building distribution from the ground up – is strongly preferred
  • Multi-brand portfolio experience and familiarity with marketplace retail operations (first-party vendor and third-party seller models) are strong assets
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to navigate complex buyer conversations at senior levels
  • Strong analytical and business planning skills; able to assess profitability, identify growth levers, and develop data-supported recommendations using tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools, and with AI tools such as Claude to enhance productivity and day-to-day workflows; MBA an asset
  • Self-directed and results-oriented; comfortable working remotely with a high degree of autonomy while building toward a leadership mandate

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular domestic travel required
  • Occasionally travel to NewAge headquarters located in North York, ON, Canada for head office visits; valid passport required

NEWAGE OFFERS:

  • Salary and bonus is based on experience and highly competitive for the right candidate.
    • This is an existing vacancy and the base salary for this role is $100,000 - $125,000 USD annually at the time of the posting.
