Project Description –

Project Name: Procurement System Modernization – 1GX

The 1GX Centre of Excellence (CoE) supports the Government of Alberta’s enterprise ERP platform, 1GX, which enables key business functions such as Supply Chain, Finance, Human Capital Management (HCM), and Treasury.

The project focuses on supporting government-wide training, learning, change adoption, and stakeholder outreach for 1GX modernization and operational initiatives.  Responsible for assessing learning needs, developing role-based training strategies, creating and delivering different types of learning solutions, and continuously improving training based on learner feedback and adoption results.

The position works closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, subject matter experts, vendors, program leadership, and the 1GX Change Network to ensure training is accurate, accessible, practical, and aligned with business and system requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead government-wide 1GX training initiatives from learning assessment through implementation and evaluation.
  • Conduct learning needs analysis, audience analysis, role assessment, and business-process analysis.
  • Develop role-based training strategies and determine appropriate delivery methods, including instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced learning.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain end-to-end learning solutions.

  • Apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, accessibility standards, and user-centred design.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Translate complex ERP systems, business processes, and workflows into clear and easy-to-understand training content.
  • Work with business process owners, SMEs, technical teams, vendors, program leadership, and change networks to gather and validate requirements.
  • Manage stakeholder feedback and reconcile competing requirements or recommendations.
  • Coordinate training schedules, dependencies, priorities, deliverables, risks, and stakeholder communications.
  • Establish and maintain training governance, including:
    • Intake and prioritization
    • Review and approval
    • Quality assurance
    • Version control
    • Accessibility reviews
    • Content maintenance
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through:
    • Learner feedback
    • Assessments
    • Performance metrics
    • Adoption indicators
    • Other learning analytics
  • Analyze training results and implement continuous improvements.
  • Use approved digital adoption, multimedia, collaboration, content-development, and AI-enabled tools to improve training and learner support.
  • Ensure training materials meet Government of Alberta policies, accessibility requirements, privacy standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to junior trainers and learning contributors.
  • Maintain training content to ensure it remains accurate, current, consistent, accessible, and aligned with 1GX changes.
