Job description

Airline Ticketing Specialist - Travelport

Fares, Issuance & BSP on the Travelport (Galileo) Platform

The Company

We are recruiting on behalf of an established, IATA-accredited luxury tour operator specialising in long-haul, premium-cabin travel to destinations worldwide.

Our client issues airline tickets on its own IATA plate and holds direct contracted fare agreements with major carriers, giving its customers access to a broad range of fares and increased flexibility.

They are now looking to appoint an experienced Airline Ticketing Specialist with extensive knowledge of Travelport (Galileo), fares, ticket issuance, and BSP.

Purpose of the Role

The Airline Ticketing Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely issuance, reissue, and refund of airline tickets across the company's Travelport (Galileo) bookings.

The role will ensure full compliance with IATA/BSP requirements, airline fare rules and contracted IT fare agreements, while protecting the business from ADMs and lost revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue e-tickets through Travelport Galileo / Smartpoint on the company's own IATA plate, including complex multi-sector long-haul itineraries in premium cabins.

  • Construct and validate fares — published, IT/net (including contracted airline IT fares) and NDC where applicable — ensuring correct fare basis, taxes, surcharges and ticketing deadlines.

  • Manage Travelport queues daily, including ticketing time limits, schedule changes, UCs/HXs, waitlist clearance and airline messages, escalating commercial impacts to the sales team.

  • Process reissues, revalidations and refunds accurately — using Rapid Reprice where appropriate and manual recalculation where not — applying penalties and residual values in line with fare rules.

  • Reconcile weekly BSP billing (HOT files) against issued documents; investigate discrepancies and dispute ADMs within the deadline.

  • Monitor unticketed bookings against payment status to protect cash flow and avoid auto-cancellation.

  • Act as the remote fares and ticketing reference point for sales consultants — providing support with routing options, fare quotes and ticketing conditions — remaining responsive and reachable throughout the working day.

  • Liaise with airlines, BSP and Travelport support on ticketing issues, schedule changes and involuntary rerouting.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven Travelport (Galileo) ticketing experience within a tour operator or consolidator environment, working on a live IATA plate.

  • Expert knowledge of native Galileo cryptic entries and Smartpoint workflows — this is not a point-and-click role. Rapid Reprice experience is strongly preferred.

  • Solid fare construction knowledge, including IATA fare rules, category restrictions, tax boxes, net remit and IT ticketing.

  • Experience of BSP reporting, ADM handling and refund applications (BSPlink).

  • High levels of accuracy when working under deadline pressure, with the ability to take ownership of errors and resolve them quickly.

  • Proven ability to work remotely with minimal supervision, including disciplined queue coverage, clear written communication and a reliable home-working set-up with stable connectivity.

Desirable

  • IATA/UFTAA or Fares & Ticketing Level 2 qualification.

  • Familiarity with Amadeus or Sabre would be beneficial, although Travelport is the primary platform for this role.

  • Worldwide long-haul premium-cabin product and routing knowledge.

  • Experience of NDC content within Travelport and cross-checking NDC against traditional EDIFACT fares.
