Product Designer – Design Systems to build and establish a scalable design system from the ground up. The role will focus on component architecture, design tokens, governance, documentation, implementation patterns, and adoption guidance. The candidate will work at the intersection of design and engineering, owning both the design definition and front-end implementation of reusable UI components while ensuring consistency between Figma and Storybook.
Responsibilities:
- Build and establish a 0-to-1 Design System, including component architecture, design tokens, patterns, and guidelines.
- Design and develop reusable UI components in Figma and Storybook.
- Ensure alignment between Figma designs and front-end implementations.
- Define design system governance, naming conventions, contribution models, and documentation standards.
- Create clear component specifications, documentation, and usage guidelines.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to drive design system adoption.
- Support front-end component implementation using Angular-based patterns.
- Ensure components meet accessibility, usability, consistency, and scalability standards.
- Contribute to quality assurance and validation of reusable components.
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to accelerate design system development and documentation.
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in Product Design, UI/UX Design, or Design Systems.
- Proven experience owning or significantly contributing to a Design System or Component Library, preferably end-to-end.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining reusable components in Storybook.
- Strong experience with Figma component architecture, variants, auto-layout, component properties, and design tokens.
- Experience working closely with front-end engineering teams.
- Experience establishing a Design System from 0-to-1 is highly preferred.
- Practical experience with Angular-based component implementation is preferred.
Skillsets:
- Advanced Figma expertise, including components, variants, auto-layout, properties, and tokens.
- Strong Storybook experience, including building, organizing, documenting, and maintaining component libraries.
- Front-end/component development and implementation skills.
- Knowledge of Angular implementation patterns and QA processes.
- Design System architecture, governance, documentation, and adoption.
- Understanding of design token pipelines.
- Strong systems-thinking with a focus on reuse, scalability, consistency, and accessibility.
- Familiarity with Figma MCP / MCP tooling or willingness to learn.
- Experience with AI-assisted design and development tools.
- Working knowledge of VS Code, GitHub Copilot, Jira, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience in Product Design or Design Systems may also be considered.
