Job description

Senior Product QA

About This Role

Saaf AI is building the infrastructure backbone for modern mortgage operations by combining advanced AI with scalable, reliable systems. As part of a top-10 private lender processing billions in loan volume, backed by leading asset managers and funds, we are growing fast, and product quality is central to how we build and operate.

As a Senior Product QA, you will own quality across the product lifecycle, going beyond traditional test execution to ensure our platform works the way users expect. You will shape requirements, ask the right questions to strengthen acceptance criteria, and use data and user insights to decide what to test and where risk lives. You will also validate AI-powered product features, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, and aligned with user expectations.

We are an AI-native engineering team, where AI-assisted tools are a regular part of how we build, test, and ship. From generating test cases to analyzing defect patterns and exploring edge cases, you will use these tools to improve testing coverage and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Product Quality Ownership
  • Own end-to-end quality for product features, from requirements review through release readiness.

  • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to challenge and refine acceptance criteria by asking the right questions and identifying edge cases early in the development cycle.

  • Think like a user: design and execute tests grounded in real user journeys, not just isolated feature checks.

  • Define and maintain test plans, test cases, and quality benchmarks that evolve with the product.

Data-Informed Testing
  • Use product analytics, user feedback, and support data to prioritize testing efforts and focus on high-risk areas.

  • Identify patterns in defects and user-reported issues to drive systemic quality improvements.

  • Communicate quality status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders, not just bug counts, but what they mean for the user experience.

AI-Integrated QA
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools (test case generation, exploratory testing support, defect analysis) as a regular part of your testing workflow to accelerate coverage and reduce blind spots.

  • Validate AI-powered product features, ensuring model outputs, recommendations, and automated decisions meet accuracy and consistency standards.

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI tools and practices into the team's QA processes.

Testing Execution
  • Conduct regression, functional, and user acceptance testing (UAT) with a product-first mindset.

  • Verify that new features meet acceptance criteria and are working as expected across user flows.

  • Stay current with emerging QA practices, AI-assisted testing tools, and product quality frameworks.

Team & Process
  • Collaborate with product engineers, product managers, and founders to ensure quality supports rapid iteration and reliable delivery.

  • Document testing decisions, quality benchmarks, and known risk areas to support team knowledge sharing and onboarding.

  • Regularly review and improve testing workflows, coverage strategies, and defect triage processes.

Qualifications

Required
  • 5+ years of experience in a QA role, with meaningful exposure to product-oriented testing.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and modern testing methodologies.

  • Deep product thinking. You understand user behavior, can map complex user journeys, and know how to prioritize based on business impact.

  • Experience using data (analytics, logs, user feedback) to inform testing strategy and prioritization.

  • Proficiency with bug-tracking and project management tools (JIRA, Linear, Trello, or similar).

  • Excellent communication skills. You can articulate quality risks and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical skills with sharp attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated, regular use of AI-powered tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) to accelerate testing workflows, documentation, or defect analysis.

  • Startup mindset: hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Experience testing AI-powered product features, including validating model outputs, recommendation accuracy, or automated decision flows.

  • Familiarity with mortgage, lending, or fintech product domains.

  • Experience with exploratory testing techniques and risk-based testing approaches.

  • Understanding of how product analytics and observability tools can inform QA strategy.

  • Prior early-stage startup experience is highly preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Remote-first with flexible hours

  • Yearly professional development budget

  • Home office setup stipend
