Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, takes ownership of their work, and communicates clearly and professionally with both internal teams and clients.

You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, managing tax compliance obligations, and ensuring all work is review-ready. The ideal candidate has at least three years of hands-on Australian tax experience and is confident using Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM).

  • Assist with FBT, PAYG, and other compliance lodgements as required
  • Ensure deadlines are met in line with ATO requirements
  • Identify potential tax issues and escalate appropriately

Client & Team Communication

  • Communicate clearly regarding missing information, deadlines, and outstanding items
  • Work closely with senior accountants and reviewers to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Provide timely updates on job progress within XPM

Systems & Process

  • Manage jobs and workflows through Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
  • Maintain accurate client records and job tracking
  • Ensure bookkeeping data in Xero is clean and reconciled prior to preparing financials
  • Follow established SOPs and contribute to process improvements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on Australian tax and accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian tax regulations and ATO compliance
  • Proficiency in Xero
  • Experience using Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise effectively

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Australian public practice firms
  • Exposure to a variety of entity structures (SMEs, trusts, groups)
  • Experience preparing BAS and IAS independently

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who takes full ownership of their work
  • A detail-oriented accountant who submits work that is review-ready
  • Strong communicator who is comfortable asking clarifying questions
  • Reliable, consistent, and committed to long-term growth
  • A team player who aligns with Australian business hours
