Position Summary 

The F&B Software Company sits within Access Hospitality, with engineering teams distributed globally, and powers many millions of guest experiences every day. The portfolio includes ResDiary, Dish Cult, DesignMyNight, Collins, Tonic, Soda, Wireless Social, Paytronix, Paytronix Online Ordering, QikServe Digital Ordering, Kiosk, QikServe Connect, Access EPOS, Newbridge POS, GuestPOS, Acteol, Trail, Maintain, RotaReady and CPL. 

This is a 50/50 hands-on leadership role, combining software development with people leadership. You'll spend half your time writing and shipping production code, and half leading engineering teams, driving technical direction, growing talent, and delivering high-quality outcomes. 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Lead up to two engineering streams (up to 8 engineers) across delivery, technical direction and people development.  

  • Remain hands-on, designing, building and reviewing production software.  

  • Own architecture decisions, engineering standards, code quality, security and CI/CD practices.  

  • Partner with Product to deliver scalable, reliable solutions and balance feature delivery with technical investment.  

  • Coach, mentor and develop engineers through regular feedback, goal setting and performance management.  

  • Drive operational excellence, incident management and continuous improvement across your teams.  

  • Champion AI-enabled engineering practices and embed AI tooling into team workflows 

What We're Looking For 

AI-First Engineering 

  • Strong hands-on experience using AI development tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Devin or similar) across coding, testing, code reviews, documentation and troubleshooting. 

  • Able to effectively leverage and evaluate AI-generated output, while driving AI adoption and best practices within engineering teams. 

Technical Expertise 

  • Proven track record delivering production software in a commercial environment. 

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience across backend, frontend, mobile and cloud technologies. 

  • Solid understanding of clean code, automated testing, CI/CD, APIs, relational databases, and modern software architecture. 

  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and architectural decision-making. 

Leadership & Collaboration 

  • Experience leading and developing software engineering teams. 

  • Strong people management, coaching and performance management skills. 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback. 

  • Experience leading Agile delivery processes, incident management and cross-functional collaboration within distributed teams. 

Preferred Technologies 

  • React Native or Flutter 

  • C#/.NET, TypeScript/React, Java 

  • Azure and/or AWS 

  • Docker, Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures
