Job description

The primary role of the Senior QA Automation Engineer is to lead and expand QA automation across Revecore's web and backend applications. This person will architect, implement, and maintain automation frameworks, mentor QA engineers, and ensure that automated testing is seamlessly integrated into the software development lifecycle. They will combine deep hands-on experience in automation and manual testing with leadership in establishing best practices, driving test coverage, and improving overall software quality.

On a daily basis, this person will work with a wide array of technologies, develop automated test solutions, and collaborate with software engineers, product managers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and other QA team members to ensure that Revecore applications meet high standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Automation Strategy and Implementation

  • Lead the design, implementation, and rollout of automated test frameworks for web and backend applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business needs.

  • Own and evolve Revecore's QA automation strategy, extending the existing framework (Playwright, C#, Reqnroll (BDD/Gherkin), NUnit, and HttpClient) across web and backend applications, and evaluating new tools or approaches as testing needs change.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps to support continuous testing and deployment.

  • Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to embed automated testing into build and release processes.

Test Design and Execution

  • Design, write, and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, database, and integration testing.

  • Conduct manual exploratory and regression testing as needed to complement automation coverage.

  • Analyze, document, and manage defects throughout the development lifecycle; collaborate with engineers to validate and verify fixes.

  • Write and execute SQL queries for data validation, backend verification, and complex test scenarios.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Mentor QA engineers on automation best practices, coding standards, and the use of testing frameworks and tools.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during requirement reviews, design sessions, and sprint planning to ensure that features are testable and automation-ready.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (Standups, Planning, Refinement, Retrospective) and promote a quality-first mindset across the team.

  • Partner with Engineering Managers to align automation goals with product delivery objectives.

Process and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide QA metrics and reports on automation coverage, test results, and defect trends to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.

  • Contribute to QA process improvements and help establish standards for automation practices, test documentation, and version control.

  • Support off-hours production deployments as needed to validate release stability and quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of experience in software quality assurance, including at least 4 years focused on QA automation.

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks for web and backend applications.

  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Reqnroll (BDD/Gherkin), NUnit, and HttpClient, or equivalent.

  • Strong hands-on C# programming skills for building and maintaining test automation frameworks.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL; able to write and interpret complex queries for data validation.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test integration using Azure DevOps or equivalent tools.

  • Solid understanding of applications built using .NET, C#, SQL Server, and Angular.

  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development methodologies.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading QA automation rollouts or establishing test automation frameworks in an enterprise environment.

  • Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.

  • Familiarity with healthcare or insurance applications, including EDI transaction testing (837/835).

  • Experience with applications hosted in Azure and automated testing of cloud-based environments.

  • Exposure to scripting or programming in Python or JavaScript for advanced tooling or auxiliary scripts.

  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines, Git version control, and API testing.

Work at Home requirements
