Commercial Refrigeration Construction & Installation Team

All Experience Levels Welcome

Watson Refrigeration is hiring for multiple positions on our Commercial Refrigeration Construction & Installation Team. We welcome applicants at all experience levels—from mechanically inclined individuals looking to begin a skilled-trades career to experienced installers, technicians, leads, and foremen.

Team members assist with or lead the delivery, assembly, installation, start-up, and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and related equipment. Position, responsibilities, and compensation will be determined based on experience, technical knowledge, licensing, and leadership ability.

Responsibilities

Depending on experience and position, responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with or lead commercial refrigeration equipment installations.

  • Uncrate, inspect, move, assemble, and position equipment.

  • Test installed equipment and verify proper operation.

  • Pick up and deliver equipment, materials, and parts to job locations.

  • Use pallet jacks, forklifts, equipment-moving tools, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Perform basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, soldering, welding, and related installation work.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues encountered during installation.

  • Coordinate with customers, project managers, office employees, Service Technicians, and other team members.

  • Maintain accurate job documentation, expense reports, and travel records.

  • Follow all company safety policies and job-site requirements.

  • Complete ongoing safety, equipment, and technical training.

  • Experienced team members may lead projects and train or mentor less-experienced employees.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates may be considered for different positions based on their combination of experience, skills, and qualifications.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Commercial refrigeration, HVAC/R, construction, installation, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, maintenance, warehouse, or delivery experience is helpful but not required for all positions.

  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to learn new equipment and processes.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, soldering, welding, and/or hydraulic systems preferred.

  • Ability to use or learn to use hand tools, power tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, and equipment-moving tools.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to meet company insurance requirements.

  • Ability to pass a DOT physical when required.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to think on your feet and respond appropriately to unexpected job-site situations.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications may be required or preferred for certain positions:

  • Commercial refrigeration or HVAC/R installation experience.

  • Experience installing supermarket refrigeration systems or commercial kitchen equipment.

  • Construction leadership, project coordination, or crew-management experience.

  • Forklift certification; company certification may be provided if needed.

  • Strong proficiency with hand and power tools.

  • Advanced mechanical, electrical, plumbing, soldering, brazing, welding, or refrigeration knowledge.

Travel and Scheduling Requirements

  • Regular out-of-town travel with overnight stays for approximately two to three consecutive nights per week, primarily during the workweek.

  • Occasional Sunday travel may be required for projects beginning on Monday.

  • Evening and overnight work will be required based on customer and project needs.

  • Extended driving of up to eight to ten hours per day may occasionally be required.

  • Project schedules and travel plans are generally communicated in advance.

  • Flexibility to work additional hours when required to complete projects.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move 50–75 pounds, with or without assistance.

  • Ability to climb ladders up to eight feet and work on building rooftops.

  • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, push, pull, stand, and move equipment throughout the workday.

  • Ability to work safely in noisy, hot, cold, wet, or slippery conditions.

  • Ability to work around mechanical and electrical equipment while following all company safety guidelines.
