The Project Manager - Store Development will lead the end-to-end execution of retail store construction and renovation projects. This role is responsible for managing multiple concurrent projects across various markets, ensuring all are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role requires collaboration with internal teams, vendors, architects, landlords, accounting and general contractors to ensure quality and brand consistency in all store environments.

This position is virtual/remote which means the work can be completed from anywhere is the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories with about 50% travel requirements for the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Oversee all phases of remodels, store refurbishments and facility maintenance projects.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans including timelines, budgets, scope, and resource allocation.

  • Collaborate with Real Estate, Store Operations, Merchandising, IT, and Finance to ensure alignment throughout project lifecycles.

  • Serve as primary liaison between the company and architects, engineers, general contractors, and other external partners.

  • Prepare estimates, submit capital project spend and manage project budget - ranging from $5,000 to $1m plus project budgets.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time.

  • Monitor all costs against forecasts as well as period close direction and project spend insight.

  • Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising brand standards.

  • Track and measure vendor performance on projects, providing direction on project standards and deliverables.

  • Ensure consistent quality control practices are in place & adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure permit approvals, inspections, and landlord coordination are managed appropriately.

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to specifications, codes, and company standards

  • New Stores: Lead workstream coordination and management of all phases of new store builds – leading overall timeline and execution planning.  Leads the concerted efforts and coordination of all workstreams to deliver on-time schedules and openings:  Workstreams include but not limited to: Real estate, Construction, Legal, HR, Operations, Marketing, Merchandising, Asset Protection, Accounting/Finance and all other appropriate workstreams. 

  • Create and manage critical path schedules; proactively resolve delays and conflicts to keep projects on track.

  • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Produce and provide regular reporting on project status and financial impacts

  • N/A

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: The incumbent is required to interact with all employees at all levels of responsibility throughout the company.

  • External: The incumbent is required to interact with customers and other service providers including General Contractors and all construction suppliers (i.e., fixtures/equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, signage, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment. Operate Office equipment, including personal computer and phone. 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. 

  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions. 

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may on occasion be loud.

  • Working in refrigerated and freezer area in which temperatures may range from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 36 degrees Fahrenheit. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of retail management and or five years related project management.

  • Proven track record managing multiple concurrent projects in diverse geographies.

  • Must by PC proficient

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, permitting processes, retail operations, and ADA/code compliance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, AutoCAD, or equivalent construction/project management tools.

  • Must be available for overnight work and travel to new store sites. 50%

Certifications/Training

  • Project Management Certification or similar certifications are desirable.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and process guidelines. 

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. 

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to plan and organize, teach, and train, build teams, effective communicator and be a strong representative of US Foods culture and values.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds).  The expected base rate for this role is between

$80,000 - $130,000
