Learn about the Danaher Business System which makes everything possible.

The Senior Global Product Manager, Upstream Process Development is the commercial owner of Cytiva’s cell line and upstream process development portfolio, spanning cell line and cell biology solutions, Fast Trak process-development services, and next-generation platform technologies. The role sits within the Clinical Programs platform and helps customers make earlier and better-informed cell-line decisions, accelerate process development, de-risk scale-up, and reduce time-to-clinic.

The role requires deep expertise in mammalian cell line development, upstream process development and biologics manufacturing, combined with strong business acumen, portfolio management, and marketing experience. The successful candidate serves as the commercial voice of the customer — translating market needs into product strategy, driving growth initiatives, and shaping Cytiva’s long-term position in the cell line and upstream development segments.

As an experienced Senior Global Product Manager, you will operate independently with strategic autonomy, delivering business results and owning the portfolio roadmap while actively contributing to the Clinical Programs’ strategy. You will be expected to develop and execute product strategies that drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and customer adoption, and collaborate with marketing to formulate the tactics. You will serve as a key interface between R&D, commercial teams, and external partners—translating complex technical capabilities into customer value and competitive differentiation.

This position reports to the Director of Product Management and is part of the Clinical Programs Portfolio & Commercial Ops team located in England and will be a remote role.

What you will do:

Portfolio ownership – Services

  • Own the cell line and upstream process development portfolio end to end — services and platform solutions: strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and commercial performance.

  • Develop and execute global growth strategies for Cytiva’s cell biology, cell line and upstream process development portfolio.

  • Define long-term portfolio roadmaps aligned with customer needs, market trends and business objectives.

  • Evaluate opportunities for new products, partnerships, technology licensing and platform expansion.

  • Lead business case development and investment prioritization for strategic initiatives; support the commercialization of next-generation cell engineering and process development technologies.

  • Lead complex cross-functional projects from concept through commercialization, driving governance, milestone tracking, risk assessment, and communication with senior leadership.

  • Ensure successful launch execution and adoption of new solutions globally; support technology transfer and commercialization planning for new platforms and workflows.

Market and customer insight

  • Act as subject-matter expert for the cell line development and upstream process development markets — customer workflows, technology trends, outsourcing dynamics and competitive positioning.

  • Voice of the customer — lead qualitative and quantitative market research; build customer segmentation, personas and value propositions across the portfolio.

  • Engage directly with biotech, biopharma, CDMO and academic customers to understand unmet needs and emerging challenges.

  • Monitor competitor platforms and evaluate innovation opportunities; translate customer pain points into differentiated product requirements and commercial opportunities.

Commercial enablement and ecosystem

  • Enable the commercial team — develop positioning and value-selling materials, equipping the field to identify and advance opportunities within customer workflows.

  • Engage the ecosystem — build cross-functional relationships across Fast Trak, R&D, Scientific Excellence, service site leadership and Commercial, across Cytiva and Danaher.

Who you are:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MS or equivalent industry experience) in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering or a related field.

  • Significant experience spanning bioprocess application, product management and commercial roles — ideally with mammalian cell line development and upstream process development depth, including cell line engineering, clone selection and screening, and stable cell line generation.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical capability into commercial offerings with clear customer value.

  • Strong business acumen across portfolio management, pricing and go-to-market; comfort operating across R&D, marketing, commercial, applications, business development and operations.

  • Up to ~30% domestic and international travel
