Job description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a GIS Cloud Architect - Remote position with a Utility Technology Services Company located in Waukesha, WI. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role serves as a cloud technology professional for the Enterprise Architecture Practice Area, providing technical direction and problem-solving expertise for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) cloud-related projects. The ideal candidate will design new cloud solutions, modernize existing systems, and migrate on-premise systems for customers, acting as a cloud subject matter expert for utility workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to GIS cloud Enterprise Architecture workshops and related discussions involving utility customers
  • Provide overall technical cloud expertise for system design, implementation, assessment, consulting, and managed service engagements
  • Read client requirements, RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs to identify cloud opportunities and develop the cloud solution and statement of work
  • Manage technical cloud deliverables for projects, including architectural diagrams, use-cases, and solution design documentation
  • Build high-level and detailed cloud Enterprise Architecture diagrams specifying all required software, hardware, and enterprise components
  • Design cloud-native and cloud-hosted database solutions, including enterprise geodatabases
  • Generate comprehensive cost estimates and budgetary estimates using native cloud providers' configuration tools
  • Provide technical guidance and consulting for clients to embrace security in the cloud
  • Ensure cloud solutions and deliverables are thoroughly tested, reviewed, and meet customer expectations
  • Create and execute GIS cloud system tuning and system threshold testing procedures

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or other related discipline
  • 11-16 years of work experience in cloud consulting and large-scale technology projects involving cloud technologies on AWS or Microsoft Azure, preferably for utility customers
  • 6-11 years of work experience in enterprise GIS with a combination of system design, Enterprise Architecture, system implementation, and system administration
  • Thorough background in deploying, configuring, administering, and supporting Esri ArcGIS products, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online
  • Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and other containerization solutions in the cloud
  • Proficiency in one or more cloud deployment orchestration tools such as CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform
  • In-depth experience with cloud security configuration and best practices
  • Solid understanding of Layer 4 and Layer 7 load balancing and reverse proxy solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal, professional, and communication skills
  • Ability to work productively in a remote work-from-home environment
  • Active and maintained foundational-level cloud technology certification from a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle) or ability to become certified within 12 months

Desired skills:

  • Master's Degree in a related discipline
  • Prior experience with Esri and open-source cloud monitoring and tuning tools like ArcGIS Monitor, Prometheus, or CloudWatch
  • Recent experience with cloud-based integration tools such as Kafka, Boomi, and MuleSoft
  • Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile implementation methodologies
  • Understanding of the Esri, AWS, Microsoft, and Google Well Architected Frameworks (WAF)

Pay range: $76.00 - $86.00 per hour
