Job description

About the opportunity:

The Technical Program Management Office (TPMO) is a strategic function within the Technology Innovation & Strategic Operations (TISO) department. Our mission is to accelerate WEX’s product delivery and innovation velocity across all technology domains. In this infrastructure-focused role, you will partner closely with systems, networking, cloud, database, security, and operations teams to align and execute critical infrastructure initiatives. In this remote, Brazil-based role, you will lead end-to-end programs that are primarily focused upon infrastructure efforts across global regions. You will act as the primary program manager collaborating across North America, United Kingdom, Brazil, and India time zones to align execution across cross-functional teams.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Technical Fluency:

    • Lead complex infrastructure programs involving cloud migrations, data center operations, network architecture improvements, server lifecycle management, and database platform modernization. Efforts will span across North America, United Kingdom, Brazil, and India teams.

    • Collaborate with infrastructure architects, cloud engineers, database administrators, and network specialists to define program scope, milestones, risks, and success criteria.

    • Drive detailed work breakdown structures, execution plans, and multi-quarter roadmaps for infrastructure initiatives.

    • Oversee programs that enhance cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), hybrid cloud environments, and on-premise data center operations to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

    • Partner with cloud engineering teams to ensure seamless migration, deployment, and operational readiness of cloud services.

    • Coordinate efforts across network engineering and security teams to implement and maintain robust, scalable network infrastructure supporting business continuity and compliance requirements.

    • Manage dependencies related to firewall configurations, VPNs, load balancing, and network monitoring tools.

  • Program Planning/Continuous Planning: Based on Product and Technology leadership direction and priorities, facilitate ongoing planning sessions to adjust priorities and ensure continuous alignment with business goals within and across your portfolio. This will require close cross-functional partnership with technology team leaders, solution architects, and product partners. Ensure alignment of program increments with overall business goals and priorities. Encourage adaptive planning to respond to changing delivery and project requirements.

  • Program Management: Own and drive end-to-end technical implementation programs and workstreams as assigned. Your work will be critical to creating operational efficiencies within the Technical Program Management Office and Global Technology to execute against several key strategic projects. You’ll create detailed work breakdowns, milestones, risks, success metrics, and deliverables for key initiatives in these areas, and execute multi-quarter roadmaps in partnership with engineering leadership. On an ongoing basis, plan, support and execute against a roadmap of enhancements to these systems, tools, and processes.

  • Execution Management: In support of the Tech Lead, monitor progress and recommend necessary adjustments to surface risks of program execution to key stakeholders in a targeted and timely way, with the goal of course correction. Facilitate these course corrections, as needed.

  • Stakeholder and Change Management: Engage with stakeholders - Technology, Product, Solution Architecture, among others - at all levels to ensure visibility, provide updates, and address concerns. Facilitate communication between teams, ensuring transparency and alignment in fluent English. Provide clear, consistent, and timely information flow and reports out on status. Work collaboratively at the enterprise level to facilitate migrations and enable change to support new ways of working and modern technology architectures.

  • Risk Management: Identify technical risks related to infrastructure performance, capacity, security, and compliance. Develop mitigation strategies with technical and leadership partners. Escalate to senior leadership as appropriate.

  • Dependency Management: Identify, document, and manage dependencies across multiple projects, technologies, and teams. Proactively coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that dependencies are clearly understood, tracked, and addressed in a timely manner to minimize risks and avoid delays.

  • Tooling and Data Hygiene: Accordingly, ensure the use of standard project management tools - ideally within the Atlassian suite - and maintain high standards of data hygiene to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity. Avoid duplication of administrative effort. As a part of Jira stewardship, support accurate and transparent reporting and on-target capitalization within the organization through reporting and partnership.

  • Delivery and Outcome Tracking: Track program performance against the committed plan and goals. Use data and metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

Experience you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

  • Staff-level experience managing highly complex, interdependent projects across multiple time zones.

  • Strong technical acumen and program management skills to drive execution.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, bringing clarity to cross-functional initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate multi-disciplinary teams, navigate complex dependencies, and employ structured delivery frameworks to ensure predictable program execution.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in English with senior stakeholders and deliver solutions with lasting value.

  • Proven track record managing enterprise-scale migrations and infrastructure transformations across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments. Hands-on familiarity with modern stack paradigms, including IaC (e.g., Terraform), containerization/orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and CI/CD deployment pipelines.

  • Direct experience  managing cross-functional programs or projects relating to technologies including relational databases (e.g. PostGreSQL).

  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity, identify technical risks across distributed systems, manage change and resolve critical-path dependencies across cross-functional teams at an enterprise level.

Desired qualifications & experiences:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile Certified Practitioner).

  • Previous experience in FinTech or highly regulated environments.

  • Familiarity with generalized AI tooling such as Claude, Gemini, and Chatgpt.
