The Opportunity

This position works out of our Columbus, OH locations in the Nutrition Division.

Abbott is seeking an experienced, innovative, and strategically minded Team Manager, Acute Care Contracting to join our Columbus, Ohio office. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Acute Care Contracting, this individual serves as a trusted business partner to Sales and collaborates cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Marketing, and other key stakeholders.
 

The Team Manager is responsible for leading a team of contract analysts and driving contract strategy, pricing recommendations, customer negotiations, and operational excellence across a portfolio of institutional customers. This role combines people leadership, financial analysis, contract management, and strategic business partnership to optimize profitability while supporting customer growth objectives.
 

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can balance analytical rigor and commercial acumen, influence stakeholders at all levels, and develop high-performing team members.

WHAT YOU’LL DO  

Key Responsibilities
Contract Strategy, Negotiation & Management

  • Lead negotiation and execution of customer contracts with hospitals, health systems, Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
  • Evaluate pricing requests and contract terms within established authority levels while securing appropriate approvals for exceptions.
  • Partner with Sales to develop creative and competitive contract solutions that align customer needs with Abbott's business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, policies, legal requirements, and internal governance standards.
  • Identify and implement best practices to improve contracting processes, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation. 
  • Review, analyze, and respond to customer Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other commercial opportunities.
     

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of contract analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and knowledge sharing.
  • Promote collaboration across Sales, Finance, Marketing, Customer Service, and other functional teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex contract, pricing, and customer issues.

Financial Analysis & Strategic Insights

  • Develop and enhance financial models that objectively assess the profitability and business impact of customer agreements.
  • Analyze pricing proposals, rebate structures, membership changes, and contract performance to support strategic decision-making.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
  • Present complex financial and operational information to sales leadership and senior management in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Monitor contract performance and provide ongoing insights to optimize revenue, margin, and customer outcomes.
     

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that streamline contract processes and improve business responsiveness.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within contract management systems.
  • Support implementation of new tools, systems, and reporting capabilities that improve contracting effectiveness.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and execution quality.

Required Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
    Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in contracting, pricing, finance, sales operations, healthcare administration, or a related business function.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with demonstrated experience evaluating complex business proposals and pricing structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and scenario modeling.
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive business decisions.

Preferred

  • Experience negotiating and executing healthcare contracts involving hospitals, health systems, IDNs, or GPOs.
  • Knowledge of healthcare contracting, pricing strategy, reimbursement, and institutional sales environments.
  • Experience partnering with commercial sales organizations to support growth and profitability objectives.

$99,300.00 – $198,700.00
