Job Description

KIPP Foundation’s Analytics team supports the use, analysis, presentation, and application of high-quality data and research regarding KIPP schools, teachers, students, and families. These data enable KIPP to drive improvement in results, monitor progress toward outcomes and leading indicators, and inform learning and storytelling. The Analytics team supports a network of high-performing schools by providing key stakeholders with data needed for constant learning, decision-making, marketing, and development. The ideal Manager, Data & Analytics is a storyteller, highly detailed and process-oriented, and is always trying to find ways to improve existing processes, analyses, and products. In addition, this team member is a strong communicator, relationship-builder, and proactive self-starter who centers equity in their work and relationships.  

The Analytics team is hiring 3 Manager to focus primarily on one of these areas: (1) K-8 academic initiatives, (2) High school and postsecondary education, or (3) Talent and leadership development. 

This position reports directly to the Director, Data & Analytics, and collaborates with teammates within the Data & Technology team, and other program teams in the KIPP Foundation and KIPP Network. 

Responsibilities 

The Manager, Data & Analytics responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Support the design and execution of reporting and analysis (40%) 

  • Cleaning, compile, and analyze data across content areas to support reporting and analysis 

  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and other products to make data accessible and understandable to KIPP Foundation and network stakeholders 

  • Generate actionable insights for key stakeholders and communicate results in a variety of formats, including memos and written, visual, and verbal presentations 

  • Serve as a thought partner to the KF program teams to identify 

  • Support data collection, quality assurance, verification, and systems initiatives (40%) 

  • Support annual data collection, quality assurance, and verification processes to ensure on-time collection, processing, and delivery of high-quality data to KIPP Foundation and network stakeholders 

  • Support the development of business, functional, and technical requirements to support data collection, quality assurance, and verification processes and data warehousing 

  • Support day-to-day activities of the Data & Analytics team (20%) 

  • Support KIPP Foundation, regions, schools, and community members with data needs, including grant submissions, secondary research, and ad-hoc data requests 

  • Support with planning and execution for annual, network-facing events, including network retreats 

  • Support with planning, facilitating, and contributing to D&A team culture and equity development

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a role focused on quantitative reporting and analysis, data management, and quality assurance 

  • Experience with SQL or other programming languages/statistical software (e.g., Python, R, SAS, Stata) 

  • Experience developing dashboards and data visualizations using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to present data and findings in various accessible formats for non-technical audiences 

  • A customer service mindset with a goal to assist program teams with their data needs 

  • Familiarity with data quality assurance processes 

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, Statistics, Information Technology, Social Sciences, or a similar discipline; advanced degree is a plus but not required 

  • Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity: supports building an organization that reflects the community that KIPP serves and holds self and others on team accountable for centering equity 

Preferred: 

  • Experience working in a K-12 and/or higher education setting 

  • Experience with statistical methods 

  • Experience with the following (or similar) technologies: Salesforce, Jira, Zendesk 

Additional Information

Work Conditions 

  • Travel: up to 5% (up to 10 days per year)  

  • Full, exempt role 

Location 

It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of a KIPP Foundation office. This role has the option of working from a remote office full-time. KIPP Foundation offices are in NYC and Chicago. 

Compensation and Benefits 

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is $$83,200-99,000. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:  

  • 25 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+). 

  • 100% paid parental leave 

  • 100% coverage of the premium for employee and 75% for employee + family’s medical/dental/vision plans.
