Supervisor, Respiratory

This position is responsible for providing respiratory care to patients in alternate sites in accordance with company’s policies and procedures. Supports the day-to-day operations of the respiratory department ensuring care is preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative in nature.  

Job Duties:

  • Prioritizes team’s work to meet deadlines and project timeframes.  
  • Participates in leadership, team and committee activities as requested and team collaboration and coordination of activities and events.   
  • Promotes timely communication, timely referrals, coordination of service and communication regarding patients’ response to therapies. 
  • Acts as a liaison with sales staff and operational staff to assure sales efforts can be supported operationally and clinically with desired outcomes are achieved. 
  • Consistently demonstrates ability to adequately complete all documentation and charting procedures in compliance with ACHC and company policy and procedures. 
  • Maintains complete and accurate patient files by updating all documents per company policy and procedures. 
  • Shows adequate knowledge of respiratory equipment and displays ability to utilize knowledge in the clinical setting. 
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment in the field successfully. 
  • Aids in equipment evaluation and upgrading as needed.
  • Participates in ventilator set-ups in the hospital, in-servicing all appropriate staff. 
  • Performs clinical assessments as needed and reports results and recommendations to the referral and physician. 
  • Participates in highly technical discharges and prepares in advance to assure the patient and caregivers have a smooth transition to the home setting. 
  • Performs in-services to hospital staff, referrals and other professionals regarding equipment and issues of clinical nature. 
  • Follows up with physician and referrals regarding patient status and documents accurately and in a timely manner.  
  • Supports this team with feedback, accompanying referral visits, and coordination with operational components. 
  • Retains knowledge of and consistently adheres to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control and hazardous materials handling.  
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Responsible for selection and hiring of qualified staff, ensuring an effective on-boarding, and providing comprehensive training and regular feedback. 
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Establishes annual goals and objectives for the department based on the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation Range: $$85,649-$137,038

Competency, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance skills. 
  • Competent in PAP, Ventilator, Airway Clearance, and Oxygen therapy administration and management.
  • Ability to perform clinical assessments and make recommendations to physicians. 
  • Decision making and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities and tasks. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a 2-year degree from an AMA approved respiratory program.  
  • A valid and unrestricted Respiratory license is required in all states serviced by the region.  
  • Must be CPR certified.  
  • A valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required. 
  • Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Health Care RT or HME RT is required.
