The Cyber Risk Division provides specialized cyber liability and loss coverage solutions for small and midsize businesses, public entities, and risk pools. While the division has operated as a standalone business for eight years, it draws upon more than sixteen years of cyber underwriting experience and expertise. Focused on serving the small and midsize enterprise (SME) market, the team delivers tailored solutions while maintaining strong underwriting discipline and a commitment to profitable growth.

With a highly collaborative structure that brings together underwriting, claims, and risk management professionals, the division offers the stability of an established carrier combined with the innovation and flexibility of a growing business. Position Overview

The Underwriting Territory Manager serves as both a production underwriter and business leader responsible for driving new business growth, managing underwriting talent, and expanding the Cyber Risk Division's presence throughout the East Coast territory. This role will lead a small team of underwriters while maintaining a strong market-facing presence, leveraging deep cyber expertise and broker relationships to build a profitable portfolio.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in executing growth strategies, developing distribution partnerships, and helping shape the future direction of a rapidly growing cyber business.

This is a remote position based on the East Coast with significant travel throughout the territory to support broker engagement, business development, and team leadership initiatives.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Drive profitable new business production and territory expansion across the East Coast region.

  • Lead, coach, and develop an underwriting team while fostering accountability, engagement, and high performance.

  • Underwrite complex Cyber Risk accounts and provide technical guidance on challenging submissions and referrals.

  • Execute underwriting strategies that support profitable growth, portfolio diversification, and market expansion.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to identify and secure new business opportunities.

  • Leverage existing market relationships and industry connections to strengthen distribution partnerships and drive production results.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, including rate adequacy, retention, loss trends, and exposure management, and recommend corrective actions when needed.

  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting guidelines, pricing discipline, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze market conditions, competitive trends, and emerging cyber exposures to inform territory strategy and business planning.

  • Represent the division at industry events, broker meetings, and client-facing engagements to enhance market visibility and brand presence.

  • Manage territory results and operating expenses in accordance with divisional financial objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in insurance, risk management, finance, or a related field.

  • Generally, 5+ years of Cyber underwriting experience preferred; candidates with substantial expertise in specialty Property & Casualty lines will also be considered.

  • Generally, 2-4+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated success developing, coaching, and managing a high-performing underwriting team.

  • Strong technical underwriting expertise with experience handling complex cyber risks and larger accounts.

  • Established broker relationships and a demonstrated ability to generate opportunities through market engagement and business development activities.

  • Strong communication, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to travel up to 50% throughout the East Coast territory.

$150,000.00 -$225,000.00
