The Research Development (RD) Manager provides central office RD support services to Emory University leadership, faculty, and program staff throughout all Emory colleges and schools. Key responsibilities of the role include activities that primarily support funding opportunity management, proposal development, networking, metrics management, feedback and writing, and program coordination and innovation.

KEY RESPOSIBILITIES: 

  • The RD Manager possesses expertise in research funding identification and grant proposal development.
  • Curates, distills, and disseminates external funding opportunities while being proficient in software and tools for managing internal funding applications.
  • Co-leads team-based approaches for highly complex grant proposals, providing strategic feedback aligned with sponsor review criteria to enhance competitiveness.
  • Provides meaningful contributions to networking events by presenting on multiple topics and facilitating event activities.
  • Provides valuable input on RD metrics and tracking processes to contribute to process improvements.
  • Supports competitive intelligence gathering for funding opportunities and makes contributions extending to strategic planning for RD initiatives and services.
  • Oversees an RD portfolio and may supervise direct reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and (six) 6 years of experience in related field, such as research development, proposal development, research administration, professional writing and editing, project management, and/or team management.
  • Advanced degree and prior experience working within a centralized office of research within an institution of higher education is preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
