Electric Vehicles (EVs)

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Job description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Slate is looking for an experienced Public Relations and Communications Program Manager to run the day-to-day and long-term operations of the communications department. Reporting to the Head of Public Relations and Communications, this role makes sure internal and external communications programs run on time, on brand, and in step with the rest of the business. The ideal candidate lives in the details.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Communications Operations

  • Own the day-to-day and long-term operations of the communications department, including planning, timelines, and program tracking.

  • Build and maintain scalable processes and systems to keep the department organized as it grows.

  • Track budgets, deliverables, and deadlines across all active PR and communications programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the Marketing, Fleet, and Distribution teams within Commercial to align communications programs with broader business priorities.

  • Collaborate with Program Management, Design, and Engineering to ensure communications and PR needs are built into product and program timelines.

  • Serve as a key point of contact for cross-functional partners on communications planning and status.

Fleet & Event Readiness

  • Work with the internal fleet team to ensure vehicles are wrapped, accessorized, and ready ahead of events and media activations.

  • Coordinate timelines and requirements between the communications team and fleet operations to avoid last-minute gaps.

  • Track vehicle and asset readiness against the event and campaign calendar.

Brand Visibility & Opportunity Identification

  • Identify new opportunities for Slate to show up — at events, in media, and through partnerships — that align with brand goals.

  • Bring forward ideas and recommendations to leadership on where and how Slate should be present.

  • Monitor the broader industry and competitive landscape for opportunities and risks.

Program & Detail Management

  • Keep every workstream coordinated, documented, and on schedule, serving as the person who catches what others miss.

  • Maintain clear records, timelines, and status updates across all active programs.

  • Anticipate risks and proactively resolve conflicts before they affect deadlines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate program documentation and records.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in program management, communications, or PR, with a track record of running programs independently.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Smartsheets, Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

  • Experience managing budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships.

  • Comfortable working across scheduling, tracking, and communications tools.

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional organizational skills and an obsessive attention to detail — nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Commercial, Program Management, Design, and Engineering.

  • Self-starter who identifies opportunities and brings ideas forward without being asked.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • History of managing communications operations at a growing or fast-paced company.

  • History of cross-functional wins.
