Job description

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-focused Accountant / Bookkeeper to support the day-to-day finance and payroll

administration of an Australian security-services business. The role will work with the internal team to maintain accurate

financial records, process transactions, and support fortnightly payroll and timesheet processing for approximately 300 staff.

This is a mid-level role requiring approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience. Strong experience with MYOB and Australian

accounting processes is essential. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, following

established procedures, and escalating issues when clarification or approval is required.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain MYOB records; process accounts payable and accounts receivable; prepare invoices, receipts, reconciliations, and payment records; support the fortnightly payroll cycle for approximately 300 staff; review, reconcile, and organise employee timesheets; assist with month-end reporting and financial administration; follow up outstanding invoices and documentation; and maintain orderly digital finance files.

Essential experience

- Approximately 2–3 years in bookkeeping, accounts administration, payroll support, or a similar accounting role, preferably supporting an Australian business.

Essential skills

- Hands-on MYOB experience; working knowledge of Australian accounting and payroll processes; experience with timesheets, AP, and AR; strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; accurate data entry and reconciliation; professional English communication; discretion with confidential information; and strong organisation and follow-through.

Desirable experience

- Experience in security services, facilities management, workforce services, rostering, labour-hire, logistics, or another multi-site and labour-intensive service industry.

Training and support

- Training will be provided on company-specific processes, approval workflows, reporting formats, systems, and industry terminology.

Role boundaries

- The role will support bookkeeping and finance administration. Australian management or the appointed accountant will retain responsibility for final approvals, statutory compliance, tax advice, financial policy, and other regulated decisions.

Benefits

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is dependable, methodical, and comfortable handling confidential financial and employee information.

They should have comparable bookkeeping or accounting experience, be willing to learn the company’s processes, and

understand the importance of accurate payroll, timesheet, AP, and AR records.

What success looks like

MYOB records are accurate and current, invoices and payments are processed on time, timesheet information for

approximately 300 staff is accurate and organised for the fortnightly payroll cycle, outstanding receivables are followed up,

finance files are easy to audit, and management receives clear updates on issues or missing information.

Application requirements

Please provide a resume outlining experience with MYOB, Australian accounting, payroll, timesheets, accounts payable, and

accounts receivable. Applicants may be asked to complete a short practical exercise involving a reconciliation, invoice entry,

timesheet review, or AP/AR report.
