Position Summary:

The Cost Analyst is the business partner for cost accounting related tasks at various plants. This role collaborates with the plant's Operations department and other functions to complete component setup and develop cost estimates for new products or changes to existing products.  Additionally, this position assists with periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) cost rolls and annual overhead rate calculations for multiple plants and provides support for projects as assigned by the Manager of Cost Accounting. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop Cost Estimates for manufactured products on a timely basis in support of Sales, Marketing, and Operating divisions for assigned plants.
  • Complete component setup for assigned plants as required.  Setup includes overhead calculation for finished goods, system maintenance (packaging and ingredient components, branch transfers, finished goods, and work centers) and completion of Pre-Production worksheet. 
  • Participate in annual budget process: update assigned overhead cost drivers for all manufacturing plants, provide year-over-year comparisons/analysis, partner with assigned plants to drive budget template completion.
  • Provide support for other projects delegated by Manager of Cost Accounting or Director of Cost Accounting (cost analysis, preparation for JDE product costing implementation, maintaining master data files, etc.).
  • On quarterly basis, update purchased finished goods standard cost for assigned plants. On a monthly basis, update branch transfer rates and complete cost roll for each assigned plant.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration with primary focus in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience (5+ years in similar field)
  • Minimum 2 years cost accounting experience
  • Manufacturing experience (any industry) 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in manufacturing preferably within the food or processing industry
  • Familiarity and experience with AS400, JDE and Oracle preferable
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with Bills of Materials, Fixed and Variable Overhead
  • Strong knowledge of Manufacturing and Operations 
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, Outlook)
  • Proven skills in critical thinking and problem solving, customer service, and organization
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communications skills are required
