Job description

Company Description

At PayNearMe, we’re on a mission to make paying and getting paid as simple as possible. We build innovative technology that transforms the way businesses and their customers experience payments. Our industry-leading platform, PayXM™, is the first of its kind—designed to manage the entire payment experience from start to finish. Every click, swipe or tap is seamless, fast and secure, helping non-commerce businesses boost customer satisfaction, accelerate payments, and reduce costs.

Our single platform handles it all: cards, ACH, digital wallets such as PayPal, Venmo, Cash App Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and even cash at more than 62,000 retail locations nationwide. Today, thousands of businesses across consumer lending, iGaming and online sports betting, property management, and tolling trust PayNearMe to deliver a payment experience that drives real results.

In September 2025, we raised a $50 million Series E funding round to accelerate our growth.

We’re a team of 300+ employees across 41 states, headquartered in Silicon Valley with satellite offices in Dallas, TX and Holmdel, NJ.

Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of payments—one experience at a time.

We are looking for a senior-level Technical Program Manager (IC) to drive execution of our most complex and cross-functional initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with a builder's mindset.  Someone who thrives in ambiguity, brings structure to chaos, and inspires alignment without formal authority. You'll work across engineering, product, compliance, operations, and customer-facing teams to ensure delivery of high-impact programs that advance our platform and business goals.
This role leads a portfolio of programs with high technical and organizational complexity, scales TPM best practices across multiple teams and platforms, and drives alignment with senior leaders on delivery, planning, and execution rhythms. This is an individual contributor role for someone who can operate at a senior level, balancing strategic vision, cross-functional coordination, technical fluency, and day-to-day delivery excellence.
The Technical Program Manager role is expected to flex across three levels of work as programs require: Program Management , Project Management, and, on occasion, Scrum Master coverage when a team temporarily lacks it.  We're looking for someone energized by that range rather than someone who wants to operate at only one altitude.

This role will report to the Senior Director of Technical Program Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex, cross-functional programs from inception through launch across engineering, product, compliance, and business teams.
  • Own portfolio-level roadmapping: identify gaps, run yearly roadmap planning with teams, and manage priorities and trade-offs across a portfolio of programs.
  • Drive change management and enablement efforts to ensure teams are not just informed, but fully aligned and empowered, driving adoption of new processes, tools, and programs through clear communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic influence.
  • Scale TPM best practices, tooling standards, and delivery frameworks across multiple teams and platforms, tailoring delivery processes to the SDLC and business context, and coaching teams on adoption.
  • Act as a force multiplier by identifying friction points, aligning stakeholders, and establishing repeatable frameworks to improve execution and delivery velocity.
  • Apply agile, scrum, and lean methodologies effectively by tailoring practices to fit the program context and driving team accountability.
  • Bring system-level thinking.  Understand the architectural impact of cross-team work and navigate technical trade-offs with engineering and product partners.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive program plans, roadmaps, and status updates to keep stakeholders aligned and informed.
  • Partner with engineering leadership and product teams to translate business needs into executable plans that balance scope, speed, and quality.
  • Anticipate systemic risks and complex dependencies across multiple workstreams; build the tools and rituals to manage risk and dependency mapping at scale.
  • Influence decision-making and drive alignment across senior stakeholders without relying on formal authority, translating complex delivery issues into clear narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to the evolution of TPM best practices across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 7–10 years of experience managing complex technical programs, ideally in a high-growth or regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering cross-functional programs with many moving parts on time and with measurable impact.
  • Hands-on experience administering or configuring Jira and other Agile tooling for scaling teams.
  • Strong change management experience.  Able to guide teams through ambiguity and align around shifting priorities.
  • Comfortable translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Fluency in technical conversations.  Able to engage in technical discussions, challenge assumptions, and help scope solutions in partnership with engineering and product.
  • Deep understanding of agile, scrum, and lean methodologies; comfortable coaching teams and adapting practices as needed.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills especially with senior engineering, product, and business leaders.
  • Comfortable operating independently, managing ambiguity, and taking ownership at both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Demonstrated comfort flexing across program, project, and team-facilitation-level work as assignments require, rather than operating in a single fixed lane.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in payments, fintech, or regulated industries.
